Ce bâtiment a été construit à l'origine en 1814 et a changé de mains plus de fois qu'un marin mangeait un bol de chaudrée de palourdes. Et cela est probablement dû aux fantômes qui hantent l'articulation.
Cet ancien bâtiment date de 1815 et à son apogée, il abritait autrefois l'un des bordels les plus populaires de la ville.
Construit en 1749, ce bâtiment pré-révolutionnaire est l'un des plus anciens encore debout à Portsmouth. Sous sa fondation se trouvait autrefois le système de tunnels souterrains qui reliait secrètement de nombreux bâtiments de Portsmouth.
On dit que le cimetière est le plus grand du genre aux États-Unis et on pense que plus de 200 personnes de la communauté afro-américaine ont été enterrées ici.
Construit à l'origine en 1785, le Rockingham était autrefois l'un des hôtels les plus prestigieux de la Nouvelle-Angleterre. Il a accueilli les présidents Franklin Roosevelt, JFK, Ulysses Grant et l'auteur Mark Twain.
Construit à l'origine en 1758, l'ancienne maison de John Paul Jones contient plus de fantômes qu'un bateau du Maine ne contient de homards. Certains disent que le vieux John Paul Jones s'attarde dans la pièce où il a dormi autrefois. D'autres ont vu un esprit en colère ouvrir des armoires et claquer des portes.
Au cours du siècle dernier, des artistes de renommée mondiale ont honoré ses salles, notamment le magicien Harry Houdini, Buffalo Bill Cody et cet astucieux Mark Twain. Les spectacles étaient si bons que les fantômes ont décidé de rester.
La brasserie n'est pas seulement l'un des meilleurs endroits de Portsmouth pour prendre un verre et un hamburger en ville. Il est également hanté par un fantôme affectueux de la nuit.

A fun tour! Make sure you have a fully charged phone. Best to do in the cooler morning hours or early evening.
I don’t think this was intended, but I found the ghost tour really campy, in a fun way! For the price, it is 100% worth it, it takes you on a nice loop around downtown Portsmouth.
Super spooky, fun, and surprisingly humorous! Will recommend to family and friends!
What a fun and informative walking tour of Providence Rhode Island. Lots of stories with humor intermingled. I liked that you can stop and start easily to enjoy shops and beverages along the way.
Great tour easily navigated and really fun . Most interesting discoveries that we never would have seen on our own . We would definately do another tour
Paying for the walking tour was easy but getting access to the tour was very frustrating and cumbersome. It wasn't very clear that you needed to download a second app to access the tour.
This was a different spin on a tour throughout the city because it was self guided. We were able to skip around and even stop for browsing in stores and eating, then resuming the tour. The bits about each location was interesting.
I enjoyed the self guided tour through Portsmouth, NH. I did find it a little bit confusing with the directions at times.
This was a fun way to explore the city and to learn a lot about the history of Portsmouth. We learned so much and the the ghost story is, we just added fun! It’s a great way to walk around and learn the history and stop and pause to go in anywhere you want along the way. Just a heads up the bar at the end is permanently closed. Apparently they experience some bad flooding and just couldn’t keep up to code with the bills. Sad. It looked like it would’ve been a fun way to end the tour. I feel for the owners.
For the price this is a great value. Portsmouth has a charming extensive history. This tour provides a guided walking tour of some notable historic buildings that I have certainly missed on previous visits. The haunted aspects provide an effective way to learn local lore, historical importance and focus. Who knew that Portsmouth was integral in the Underground Railroad. The tour is about an hour and an exceptional value. I’ll look forward to more self guided walkntours while I visit other cities!!
