My son and I had such a great time with Port City Bike Tours! Marcus was a wonderful guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience so enjoyable. I was a little reluctant going into it because I honestly never bike, but it ended up being so much fun and much easier than I expected. Marcus made me feel completely comfortable and more than capable the entire time. It was such a fun way to explore the city and a great experience to share with my son. Highly recommend, even if you’re not normally a cyclist!
Portsmouth is a gem of a place: combines beautiful architecture and scenery, some seaport/harbor grittiness, lots of historical significance, and walkability/bikability. Donna was a terrific guide, with lots of enthusiasm and obvious love for the city. She also provided some nuanced perspective to local and colonial history. Excellent value for the money, good exercise, too.
Marcus and Paul were great! Bike people giving a historical tour was a neat experience. Make sure you bring some water.
Nice tour- it was a large group and we had two guides to keep everyone safe
We took the Islands & Harbor Sightseeing Bike Tour with Port City Bike Tours and had the most wonderful experience. Our guide, Paul, was fantastic—he was incredibly knowledgeable about the area's history and took wonderful care of everyone in the group to ensure we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. It's a fabulous route right along the water, perfect for learning and exploring. For anyone wondering about the terrain, my wife rode an e-bike, but the 10-mile ride is very doable on a regular bike as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Paul and Port City Bike Tours, for a memorable adventure!
The ride was AMAZING. The best part of our 3 days in the area. The views were epic. Our guide Gordon was beyond the best. He shared historical facts at every stop and blended in his own version of humor, local trivia and killer dad jokes. It is a MUST DO. Thank you Gordon. Awesome job.
Thank you Robert. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your tour with Gordon. Thank you for joining us and supporting a small local business.
We were greeted very warmly and bike adjustments were made to fit our group. The guide was very knowledgeable and conducted an informative and interesting tour. One of our senior bikers needed quite a bit of assistance so the frequent "off and on" the bike during the tour was challenging. Although the hills were not described as hills, they were for one of us who was on a regular bike. This was difficult even though the tour was advertised as "easy, mostly flat." One of the bikers was not aware that her e-bike had to be "turned on" each time we stopped so she was traveling quite a bit without the assist which she needed, so more instructions for the e-bike would be advantageous for newcomers. The longer biking adventures around the water was easier and very scenic. We got to know of the beauty of Portsmouth and was very interested in the African Burial Ground.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re so glad you enjoyed learning about Portsmouth’s rich history, especially the African Burying Ground Memorial, and that you found the waterfront portion of the ride both scenic and enjoyable. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to your guide. We also appreciate your thoughtful feedback. Before every tour we spend time fitting each guest to their bicycle and reviewing how to safely operate our e-bikes, including the pedal assist system. We understand that for guests who are new to e-bikes or who have different comfort levels with cycling, there can still be a learning curve, and your comments are a helpful reminder for us to reinforce and reiterate those instructions throughout the ride. Our Islands and Harbor tour is designed to be an easy-paced ride with mostly flat terrain, though there are a few gentle inclines and several stops along the way to explore historic sites and hear the history. We always encourage guests to let us know about any mobility or cycling concerns ( balance issues) before the tour so we can recommend the most suitable bike and help ensure everyone has the best possible experience. Thank you again for joining us. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back for another ride along New Hampshire’s beautiful Seacoast.
Excellent. Most of bike tour was slightly outside of downtown Portsmouth so there was no congestion. Beautiful sights. Lots of water, greenery and old neighborhoods. Highly recommend.
