Projet le plus ambitieux de la ville de Mexico du XXe siècle, une ville universitaire abrite l'avenir du Mexique, où ont étudié les intellectuels les plus importants que notre pays a produits, comme le prix Nobel Octavio Paz. Il a été construit en fonction de l'architecture avec les peintures murales de Rivera, Siqueiros, O Gorman entre autres artistes que nous vous expliquerons en détail.
Sur commande de Diego Rivera, Juan O'Gorman conçoit en 1931 l'un des premiers bâtiments fonctionnalistes d'Amérique latine : une maison pour le peintre et une autre pour son épouse Frida Kahlo, où chacune aurait son propre atelier. Il est situé au sud de la ville de Mexico et est dédié à la préservation de la mémoire du muraliste et de son épouse ; ainsi que l'étude et l'analyse de sa génération artistique.
Le site se distingue par sa vaste collection d'art préhispanique, ainsi que par son espace écologique qui abrite une flore et une faune endémiques. Rivera a conçu l'œuvre architecturale afin de protéger sa vaste collection de pièces précolombiennes, tout en exposant les plus belles œuvres de ce complexe dans le bâtiment principal. Sont exposés 16 croquis de différentes peintures murales réalisées par Rivera au début des années 1930. On y admire la maîtrise de la composition classique apprise par le muraliste dans sa jeunesse. Exceptional tour discovering lesser-known places that take your breath away. A special thanks to Jesus, who with his enthusiasm guided me in discovering Mexican history and mythology. A tour not to be missed!
We had a wonderful personalized tour with Tiare who was inquisitive, informative and friendly. We enjoyed her knowledge about the history of the university murals and Olympic stadium and then went to see Diego and Frida’s studio space. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit the 3rd stop on the tour as we had Casa Azul booked later that afternoon. However instead Tiare took us to a local market to taste delicious tacos and explore the area around casa azul prior to our appointment. We had a great day and would definitely recommend Tiare as a tour guide for others and for our return to CDMX!

I had the pleasure of experiencing Jorge’s Legacy tour in Mexico City as a private tour. We visited UNAM, the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Studio House Museum, and concluded at the Museo Anahuacalli with its impressive pre-Hispanic art collection. Jorge is an exceptional guide—articulate, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about Mexican art and culture. His enthusiasm brought each location to life, and having the tour to myself allowed for a perfectly tailored experience. Highly recommend for anyone interested in Mexican art and history!
This was one of the best tours we have been on. Our guides combined the history of Mexico with architectural and art history insights. We enjoyed the tour of the the University and the Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera houses, but the true highlight was visiting the Museo Anahuacalli at the end. A fabulous day!
