Nous visiterons la spectaculaire église St Philomena qui est la deuxième plus grande d'Asie pour comprendre les idéaux séculiers des Maharajas de Mysore. Nous visitons le grand palais de Mysore et passons la prochaine heure dans cette merveille construite dans un style indo-sarrasin avec un mélange de styles architecturaux hindou, musulman, rajput et gothique. Le palais est une structure en pierre de trois étages, avec des dômes en marbre et une tour de cinq étages de 145 pieds. La visite guidée vous fera découvrir la salle publique, la salle privée, le pavillon des poupées et la salle royale du mariage.
Nous atteignons la ville historique de Sri Rangapatnam qui fut la capitale du Tipu Sultan, le Tigre de Mysore, au 18ème siècle. Nous retracerons sa vie depuis le jour où il a combattu un tigre et l'a tué avec un poignard, ses courageuses batailles avec les Britanniques, ses réformes administratives et économiques et son utilisation pionnière des roquettes dans la guerre. On lui attribue le mérite d'être un pionnier dans l'utilisation de fusées pour la guerre et les Britanniques ont ensuite improvisé sur sa technologie pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Nous visitons Dariya Daulat Bagh, le palais d'été de Tipu Sultan. Il est construit dans un style indo-sarcénique et possède quelques magnifiques peintures murales illustrant la guerre de Tipu avec les Britanniques. L'exposition la plus célèbre ici est le célèbre tableau « Prise de Srirangapatna » de Sir Robert Ker Porter. Le thème du tableau est la chute finale de Srirangapatna le 4 mai 1799, lorsque les Britanniques battent les forces de Tipu.
Le donjon Colonel Bailey est le célèbre donjon où Tipu a emprisonné plusieurs officiers britanniques pendant la guerre. Des histoires sur ce lieu notoire seront racontées au cours de la visite !
Nous visitons le premier musée de sculptures sur sable d’Inde. Conçu et construit par Gowri, un sculpteur de sable de premier plan, le musée du sable a nécessité 4 mois et 115 chargements de sable de construction. Il y a 16 thèmes avec 150 sculptures exposées.
Nous visitons l'église Sainte-Philomène. Construit en 1840, il s'appelait auparavant Saint-Joseph Chávez, qui a ensuite été changé pour son nom actuel. Initialement une petite église, elle a pris sa forme actuelle en 1933 sous le règne du Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. En 1843, le roi de Mysore Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar a construit l'église afin de répondre aux besoins du peuple européen qui résidait alors à Mysore. Aujourd'hui, c'est la deuxième plus grande église d'Asie.
Ensuite, dans notre visite à Mysore, nous visitons le marché de Devraja, le charmant vieux bazar de Mysore. C'est un délice sensoriel composé de fleurs, de légumes, de fruits, de jaggery, d'oignons et de pommes de terre, de riz soufflé et de noix de coco !

The history of Mysore is interesting and the sites are amazing and beautiful walk through history. The colour and grandeur of the interiors of the Mysore palace belies its simplicity on the outside. Shiva was a great teller of history which made the place even more alive. Tipu’s summer palace is beautiful, the frescoes in Persian style beautiful and delicate in muted colours. History again inside the srirangapatna fort- the last Anglo Mysore war, the story of Mir Qasim, tipu sultan and the dungeon. Shiva brought it all to life, Raghu was safe and an amiable driver. Narayan made the booking process easy. Would highly recommend
What a fabulous experience. Shiva was very professional, hugely knowledgeable and very personable in the way he relayed information to me. Having someone like Shive present the Somnathapor temple to me made the experience all the richer because: 1. I could appreciate the age of the structure; 2. The ingenuity of the people who designed the structure; 3. The material from which the structure was created; 3. The creativity of those that decorated the structure ; 4. The educational material available on the temple outer walls. 5. The Hindu history carved on the walls also. A hugely beneficial experience going with such a terrific guide. I also appreciated the opportunity to ask many questions about Indian life from which I gained terrific insights from Shivas responses. Shive was also flexible with the itinerary to take me to a village and describe some of the ways of life, housing construction methods and infrastructure. Full day tour with Chethan as our guide. Very knowledgeable, went at our pace. Nothing was too much trouble. Made sure we were happy and seeng the things we were interested in . The driver was prompt and careful. Would not hesitate to recommend them.
The tour was fantastic! The historic temples were incredible to see and I learnt so much about each one. The carvings were stunning and very impressive. My guide, Manjunath, was wonderful and shared all of the important spots, as well as stopping for refreshments throughout the day. Traditional lunch was a highlight, very delicious! I also shared that I am very interested in how sugar is made and really appreciated how he also pointed out the sugar cane fields and took me to have a look at one. It was very special and custom. 🙏 A fantastic experience and we saw lots of beautiful places on the way!

We had a wonderful day with Shiva seeing the best sights of Mysore! The Tipu Sultan Summer Palace is really worth the visit - it is exquisite inside and so well preserved. Mysore Palace did not disappoint - it is truly stunning. Our South Indian lunch was delicious! And a great tour around the market which is so amazing to wonder around - the sights, the smells, the colors - all so incredible to take in. You will see so much on this tour! Shiva is super knowledgeable about all things Mysuru and we felt like we were getting the expert’s guide tour! A really great day that we both really enjoyed.

Our guide Shiva is knowledgeable and I would highly recommend getting him as your guide. However I was disappointed with 5sensestour actual iteanrry was different from emailed confirmation iteanrry. I think I did not get value for my money for a private tour
We saw the Somnathpur temple, Mysore palace, Devraj market, and Philomena church. Our tour guide Shiva was very knowledgeable and explained stories from the Ramayana, Gita, and Mahabharata with us while at the temple and of the history of the Mysore palace. We also had a great lunch while on the tour where we ate traditional South Indian food off a banana leaf. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Mysore.
