We visited the city of Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar. The visit to Nizwa Fort and the traditional souq was particularly interesting, with the opportunity to taste and buy different types of tea, coffee, dates, incense, and many other local products. The views from the mountains of Jebel Akhdar were absolutely beautiful and made the experience even more special. But what really made the difference was our guide, Jamal. His knowledge, professionalism, and great sense of humor made the whole day truly enjoyable. He was an essential part of the experience and helped make our excursion an unforgettable day. Highly recommended!
We had an amazing day with Jamal in Nizwa and on the mountains. The trip was very well organized and Jamal has been full of attention for my 8 years old daughter and for all of us. When we will be back to Oman we will certainly call Jamal for another tour with him.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you had such an amazing day exploring Nizwa and the mountains with Jamal. It is especially rewarding to know that his attentiveness, professionalism, and care helped make the experience enjoyable for both your daughter and the rest of your family. We had an extraordinary day with Qais, our amazing guide who speaks very good English, who embodies the joy of living and who showed us many beautiful things and taught us a lot about Omani culture and traditions. We highly recommend these tours in Oman!

There was much to learn at Nizwa Fort and the views of Nizwa Canyon are impressive. Comfortable transportation.
Thank you for your kind review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed discovering the history of Nizwa Fort and taking in the impressive canyon views. It’s also wonderful to know that you found the transportation comfortable. We hope to welcome you again for another memorable adventure in Oman.
I'm really glad I selected this tour. It was a beautiful, fun, and relaxing day, and everything went perfectly well and as expected based on the descriptions and reviews. Our guide Wadd was superior. I don't use WhatsApp so he took the time to communicate with me through the Viator app, and he was right on time in picking me up at my hotel. Wadd was kind and generous throughout the trip and never pressured us to hurry up, even though I think we were a bit slow and took a ton of photos. There were only three of us in the group so we were all comfortable in his 4x4 car. The scenery was gorgeous, and I learned a lot about Omani history at Fort Nawaz and the other historical sights we saw. The Khubz Ragag bread we tried at the fort was delicious. A must-try if possible. Our lunch was very good too. The mountains of Jebel Akhdar are lovely. You can clearly see the geologic forces that shaped them. I enjoyed stopping at the Al-Sharif Museum and seeing the beautiful views from the cafe deck there. I can highly recommend this great day tour and GidOman.
Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that your day trip was beautiful, relaxing, and exactly as expected. It’s great to know that Wadd made the experience even more special with his kindness, professionalism, and thoughtful communication. We’re also happy that you enjoyed the historical sites, the delicious Khubz Ragag, and the stunning views of Jebel Akhdar. It sounds like you truly experienced the beauty and culture of Oman. Thank you for recommending GidOman, and we hope to welcome you again for another memorable adventure in the future!
A fun and interesting trip, enhanced considerably by our guide, Ali (Gid Oman), who was informative, attentive and great company. We did the trip during Ramadan which had pros and cons: places were maybe a little quieter but it also meant lunch was provided discreetly and on the move rather than in a restaurant which would have been nice. But don't let this put you off; Oman is a spectacular country and the people warm and hospitable.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re glad to hear that Ali made your trip enjoyable and informative. You’re right, traveling during Ramadan can bring some adjustments, but we’re happy it didn’t take away from your experience of Oman’s beauty and hospitality.
We had a great day out with Ahmed he was very amusing and told us about Omani life! We particularly enjoyed Nizwa fort. Worth noting during Ramadan lunch is not included (just a small snack) but there is no discount to the price!
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you had a great day with Ahmed and enjoyed learning about Omani life and visiting Nizwa Fort.
Great tour. Detailed introduction by the guide. Amazing view. Highly recommend.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the detailed guidance and the stunning views. Your recommendation means a lot to us!
I honestly don’t even know where to begin. Our tour guide was scheduled to pick us up at 8:20am, but he (Mohammad Ali) got lost on his way to the hotel and couldn’t locate the entrance to the resort — despite there only being one entrance. That immediately set the tone for the day. When he finally picked up my sister and me, there was another guest in the car, and we were hopeful the experience would improve. Unfortunately, it did not. During the drive to the first site, there was no context or commentary about the areas we were passing through. While that alone would not have been a major issue, things became significantly more disappointing once we arrived at the fort. He simply told us to walk around and explore on our own. Meanwhile, we could clearly see other tour guides actively walking alongside their groups, explaining the history, architecture, and cultural significance of what we were seeing. Our guide remained behind. This pattern continued throughout the entire tour. There was no storytelling, no meaningful context, no engagement. At one point, we even asked him to join us, and he declined, saying he would stay in the car to keep the air conditioning running. That response was shocking. We paid for a guided experience, not a driver. To make matters worse, when he took us through the souk, he stopped to chat casually with other tour guides, leaving the three of us standing around unsure of what to do. We were essentially waiting for him to finish his conversation. It felt as though he was completely disinterested — lacking passion, knowledge, and basic engagement. This was easily the most disappointing tour experience I have ever had. The locations themselves were absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately, the guide’s lack of professionalism and effort completely diminished what should have been a memorable day. We invested a significant amount of money in this tour, expecting a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. Instead, we were left feeling frustrated and let down.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. A guided tour should provide not only transportation, but also meaningful engagement, historical context, and professional guidance throughout the day. Based on your description, it is clear that the experience you received did not reflect the standards we require from our guides. We take this matter very seriously. After reviewing the situation internally, the guide involved has been removed from conducting tours with our company. We sincerely regret that this situation affected your experience at such beautiful locations, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can continue improving our service. Best regards, Gidoman Team
We had a lovely day thanks to the couple who we shared this trip with - our guide was very nice but not as informative as I would have liked; Nizwa souq was interesting as was the fort (but we learned a lot more about the fort at the Bait Al-Zubair Museum in Old Muscat!), great views from Jebel Akhdar but not much else.
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the day, the Nizwa souq, and the views from Jebel Akhdar. We appreciate your note about wanting more information from the guide—this helps us improve our tours for future guests.
