Lots of native wildlife to see up close with the special scope the guides carry with them. While our guide was pleasant and very knowledgeable, we often felt left out because she focused much more of her dialogue on the other family from Spain that was also part of this supposed bilingual tour. She primarily conversed with them during most of the walking. When we stopped to see wildlife, she generally explained the sightings in both languages. However, we found it necessary to repeatedly ask her to translate what she was saying to the other family. Other than that, we mostly enjoyed the tour and spotted lots of wildlife including sloths, monkeys and toucans, among many others. The beach is very nice but similar to the many Costa Rican beaches.
Our guide Milenlli was very good, very attentive and pleasant. Our guide Milenlli was very good, very attentive and pleasant.
We had a great experience with our tour guide, mop. He spotted so many amazing animals we never would have seen and explained each one. He was even able to imitate the bird calls and have them respond back!! Amazing tour and amazing guide / person overall!!
Felix is one of the best guides we have had in Costa Rica, he is dynamic, sees everything, and takes photos with your smartphone using his telescope, it is incredible
Andrew was amazing. He located so many things in the park that we would have missed. He was funny and took the time to explain everything. Would highly recommend taking a tour with Andrew! The pictures he shared of the things we saw were fantastic!
The team gave us really clear instructions before arriving - particularly with what to bring/what not to bring which was important as the park is very strict with what they let in. The team organised the tickets before which made it a seamless, hassle-free day for us. The guide, Mop, had a great sense of humour and an incredible eye for spotting animals within the park - he has been doing this for 25+ years! He definitely had the biggest scope and was kind enough to take all the photos/videos using his camera and air-dropped them to us at the end of the tour which finished on the beach. It was a slightly larger than initially expected group for us, but this way due to sickness, so took some time getting through everyone seeing the animals through the scope, but all the groups were lovely so wasn't a big problem for us.
We booked the tour directly on their site; we were provided with the necessary information, such as the meeting point and the guide's name, well in advance. Our guide Saul was great, very experienced and professional. He even spotted a toucan in front of the entrance! Awesome. The tour lasted 2 hours… however, I would recommend booking the 7-hour tour instead, since a lot of people arrive starting at 7:30 AM and then it's just group after group. The beach is obviously great, but after 10 AM it's more than crowded since it is quite narrow. The early bird catches the worm! The tour has a very good price-performance ratio.
Mop was a consummate professional... great with kids, engaging with the whole group, and could spot a dragonfly on the underside of a leaf at 100 yards! We saw sloths, three different kinds of monkeys, and the most venomous snake in Costa Rica. Mop was a wealth of knowledge about everything we spotted, and knew the history of the park and the flora and fauna. He even gave us a dinner reservation, which was the perfect end to the day!
Mop was a really great guide, and is funny and fluent in English, which is great. He spotted so many things for us, including all 3 types of monkeys, sloths, a ferdelance, and so many things that the normal human couldn’t see. His 26 years of work paid off by seeing so many small things that we just skipped over. It was amazing how he would quickly spot things and quickly setup the telescope so efficiently. We really lucked out with getting Mop, he’s the best!
This is a team of professionals. We were very pleased with the diversity of animals that we saw in the park. I still don't understand how the guide was able to spot some of the animals that he did.
