Too many people on tour due to no available guides. Last half of tour was rushed. Never saw synagogue.
We regret to hear about your disappointment. Let me address the concerns raised: 1. A group of 18 participants is considered a small group by all international standards. 2. We do not have any issues with licensed guides in Rhodes; perhaps you may have confused us with another destination. 3. The 6–7 hours allocated for this tour are sufficient to avoid feeling rushed. If you prefer to explore entirely at your own pace, we recommend booking a private rather than a shared tour. 4. Synagogues have never been listed among the stops of this tour. Your refund request has been declined by Viator, as all services were delivered in full and all sites listed in the itinerary were visited. For future bookings, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the published tour description and inclusions rather than personal assumptions. Safe travels.
Had a great day with Johanna & Dimitri. We saw some great things, had enough free time to explore and all the locations were very good. The bonus was to be picked up, appreciated that very much!
Deanna was a great tour guide. Very informative and thorough in her explanations. I highly recommend this tour.
I paid $319.74 AUD for my husband and I for this tour. Basically, what we got was bus ride from the Ship to Lindos... Yes, our tour guide Joanna gave us a little history along the way on the 1 hour bus trip. Stopping for a 15-minute pottery lesson and olive and honey tasting. We were given crouton size bread with a toothpick and a tiny plastic container to share between 20 people, samples of olive oil... Honestly, pathetic. When we finally arrived at Lindos, we were basically dumped after a 2-minute discussion on a meeting point in about an hour. As lunch was not included, we basically had time to eat and half an hour walk around before making our way back on the bus. We then drove back ( 1 hour) to the old town, where she talked while she continued to walk. She did not use a microphone, so most of the 20 people could not hear her as she marched on. Not once did she give anyone a chance to take photos. Then we wasted about another half an hour doing wine tasting with was served with 4 olives and a dry piece of bread... We should have paid for a taxi to Lindos and back and walked through the old town on our own, and seen so much more. Seriously, stay away from the tour. Not one person had anything good to say about it, apart from the lunch at Lindos which was not included in the price.
We regret to hear that our bestselling tour didn’t meet your expectations. Let me take a moment to address your concerns: 1. This 6-hour small group tour is priced at €97 per person, including pottery workshop, olive oil, honey, and wine tasting. We’re not sure how this compares to Australian standards, but by European or American standards, it’s considered quite reasonable. 2. It seems much of your disappointment might stem from expecting a private tour, which you mentioned right at pickup from the cruise terminal. Please note, private tours usually have the word "PRIVATE" in their title and come with a significantly higher price tag. 3. That’s correct - here in Greece, we use bread and toothpicks for oil sampling. No, we don’t drink it from glasses or bottles so far😄 4. In Lindos, we offer two options: a) For those eager to climb to the Acropolis, the guide leads the way. b) For those who prefer to stay grounded, they enjoy free time in the village. The choice was yours. 5. Your group had 18 people, which by most tourist standards qualifies as a small group—no headsets required. Since yours was the only feedback about not hearing the guide and since health of our guests is our top priority, we would kindly advise to consider having your hearing checked by an otolaryngologist. 6. This tour includes one hour of free time in both Lindos and the Old Town. Your comment about not having enough time for pictures leaves us scratching our heads. 7. We’re not sure if Australia has specific wine tasting rituals, but here in Europe, olives and croutons are popular pairings. Maybe we’ll make wine tasting optional from 2025, with an additional fee of €20-€30, like most of our colleagues do. 8. Yes, you would have paid about the same for a simple taxi ride to Lindos. That’s without a certified guide, pottery workshop, wine tasting, etc. We recommend comparing next time for a better perspective. 9. As for the rest of your group, yours was the only negative review, which means you were surrounded by 16 happy Americans. 😊 Remember, love and beauty are always in the eye of the beholder. Safe travels!
Our tour guide Diana was excellent! We loved our tour and learned so many things about Rhodes. She knows her history, and even told us about Greek lifestyle and traditions. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour!
Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your tour with Diana and found it educational and engaging. She will be delighted to learn that she was able to enhance your knowledge about Rhodes, and Greek lifestyle and traditions. We appreciate your review and look forward to serving you again!
Highly recommend this excursion- lots of fun things to discover and an extensive coverage of beautiful Rhodes. Well organized and our tour guide Johanna was incredibly knowledgeable.
Thank you for your positive review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your excursion in Rhodes and found our tour guide Ioanna to be so knowledgeable. We look forward to welcoming you on another adventure soon!
We initially booked this tour with Telia Tours after being assured it was a "small group" tour (19 people max). When confirming the week prior, we were told that there were 40+ people so they allowed us to change it to a private tour because that is just too many people for our taste. Based on the reviews of the company overall & that communication with Dimitra pre-cruise was very prompt & professional, we felt confident that it would be a great experience. Unfortunately, that's where the wheels fell off this experience. We met our driver, Nikos, & while he was very nice, we drove in silence (other than conversation amongst the 4 of us friends). We got zero information about the island or it's history. We drove to Lindos, got dropped off with no information about the town or the castle & were told if we needed more time, to just text him. We did take about 30" extra in Lindos town, but at no point did he ever say that this would cut into any other visits/stops. We then drove to Ebonas village for a wine tasting at a wine shop (not a winery) & while the host was very sweet & accommodating, it's clear it's more of a tourist attraction. But we got more information from her about the area than we did in the van. We were pointed to a great taverna for lunch, which was the best part of the day. When my husband asked Nikos a couple of questions about the island or what area we were in, he simply said "it's just a connector road" or gave very limited information, so we stopped asking questions. At one point, Niko admitted he was new to the job & that was very apparent. We were then dropped off back at the port (another drive in silence) with no information about the area or if we wanted to be dropped in town to see Rhodes town. He couldn't tell us what the plan was supposed to be, only that he those were the places he was told to gol When I reached out to Dimitra at Telia Tours, we were told "Your feedback is indeed a surprise to us, especially given Nikos' extensive and positive track record over nearly two decades in this field. His service has typically been met with exceptional reviews, which is why your experience is particularly puzzling." Given Nikos told us himself he had only been on the job 8 months, this was a flat out lie. While we didn't pay for a licensed guide, it didn't appear based on other reviews as well as communications during the planning stages, that we needed one. And for $160pp, the most we paid for any tour on any island, we got the worst experience of the 5 tours we booked (all private). Every other tour we took with any other company that didn't have a licensed guide still gave us loads of amazing information. We would have been better off renting a vehicle & driving ourselves & looking things up on the internet because at least then I would have known we were on our own in terms of information. We were not offered even a partial refund for the experience, only told that we had the nicest van in the fleet for our trip. I would have been happier with a regular minivan provided we had an adequate tour guide. So book with caution with this group. Rhodes seemed to have a lot to offer, but we paid a lot of money to not see much or hear anything about what that may be.
We don't mind responding to disappointed customers since we understand that can't please everyone, but this feedback sounds shaky. Let me address some points: 1) It is not a private but a shared tour 2) It has nothing to do either with 19 or 40+ members 2) All our tours include both drive and guide services, it’s always 2 staff members. 3) We do not employ any deaf-mute chauffeurs to run our tours, but work with the certified guides. 4) The cost of this tour is not $160 per person and none of our tours are offered at the price mentioned. 5) The tour does not have Embonas Village visit and restaurant lunch has never been included I could provide another 5 more pieces of evidence, but unfortunately, I don't have that much time. You can play this game without me by simply comparing the information in this feedback with the details in the tour description. Or let’s simply request this individual to provide a single detail for verification purposes – their booking reference number It appears there may be a discrepancy as we do not have any record of such booking.
We had a great tour guide who managed to get us to many sites in Rhodes and provided us a good history of the location. She was very knowledgeable and did a great job answering questions and managing the group. The only stop that we didn’t particularly like was the oil tasting and pottery shop since the purpose seemed to be geared to purchase products from the shops.
Thank you for sharing your review! It sounds like you had a positive experience overall with your tour guide in Rhodes. Their ability to take you to various sites and provide a good historical context is definitely valuable when exploring a new location. It's great to hear that the guide was knowledgeable and proficient in answering questions, which likely enhanced your understanding and enjoyment of the tour. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our tour stop at the oil tasting and pottery shop. We certainly understand that tastes and preferences can vary significantly, and we're sorry to hear that this particular part of our itinerary did not resonate with you. We strive to offer an array of experiences on our tours, some of which are quite popular and receive glowing reviews, yet might not align perfectly with every guest's interests. The oil tasting and pottery shop is often a favorite amongst our guests for its distinctive local flavors and unique crafts, which is why we include it in our route. However, we appreciate your perspective as it offers us the opportunity to reflect and reassess our tour options. Thank you again for your input, and we hope that the remainder of your tour was enjoyable and memorable. Best regards from sunny Greece!
Our family of 8 were on a Mediterranean cruise in December 2022 and were looking at excursion options in the ports to visit Weighing up the cruise ship options against alternatives, and comparing what was included for the money, we decided to book with Viator as they had excellent reviews and the tour itinerary included all the top attractions plus wine tasting, olive oil tasting and lunch. We were so pleased with our choice. Our friendly guide Diana and driver Nikos did a wonderful job. Diana’s knowledge of all the places we visited was amazing, the tour was very personalised and the smaller group made the whole visit go much more smoothly and no time waiting around for people. The driver Nikolas was punctual arriving and got us back to the cruise ship in good time for our timetable
We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found it to be informative and enjoyable. We take pride in providing a top-notch experience for our guests, and we're delighted to hear that we hit the mark with you.
From meeting the tour guide at the cruise terminal to be dropped off there after the tour, this tour operator did a great job. We had a full day Rhodes island tour that gave us a view of the different attractions that we could not have done on our own, saying nothing of visiting that cosy Greek village located in the mountains and their wine tasting. Very knowledgeable guide, safe driver, good meal, delicious wine
Thank you for your review and kind words. It was a pleasure for us to work with you. Best regards from sunny Rhodes!
