Temple Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺) ; Commencez votre visite par le temple doré le plus emblématique de Kyoto, qui scintille au-dessus d'un étang paisible, au cœur de magnifiques jardins zen. La forêt de bambous d'Arashiyama (嵐山 竹林の道) ; Entrez dans un monde magique peuplé de hautes tiges de bambou qui restent vertes toute l'année. Se promener dans cette atmosphère sereine, bercé par le doux bruissement des feuilles, est l'une des expériences les plus envoûtantes que l'on puisse vivre à Kyoto.

Quartier de Gion (祇園) ; Entrez dans le quartier historique des geishas de Kyoto. Promenez-vous le long des salons de thé traditionnels en bois et des rues pavées, tout en découvrant l'histoire de la culture des geiko et des maiko. Idéal pour une immersion culturelle totale.

Needs to up his game. I have to say this was one of the disappointing private tours we've had. Seemed disinterested as a tour guide from the off set. Gave minimal information and really felt we were inconveniencing him with our questions and requests. We thought this would be one of the highlights of our Japan trip but now really feel we'd need to visit again with a different guide to get the true essence of these amazing destinations. Just to add he was consistently was using his phone whilst driving (shopping, checking Instagram, etc.). Gave 2/5 as the photos came out well and got us to where we needed to go and connected with my teenagers. English was good too.
Ryu arrived on time to pick us up and the car was comfortable. We were disappointed at his level of knowledge. I had told him before hand that we were keen to learn about the culture and history of the area, but he wasn’t very forthcoming with information and did not seem keen to tell us much. Unfortunately he was using his phone whilst driving a lot. He left us for an hour and a quarter to go and have his lunch, which we felt was too much, and would have preferred to move on with the tour. He was fairly friendly otherwise and was helpful taking pictures of us. Overall he seemed somewhat distracted. We felt that for the price of the tour we would have liked to learn a lot more about the history and culture of Kyoto.
Young guide generally knowledgeable. We all clicked with shared interests and felt like we were friends. We are 70+ so it was a lot of wlking for us. Ryu was accommodating with finding places to sit and rest occasionally. We appreciated that. Ryu also arranged our itinerary so that we toured ahead of the crowds. Weather overcast, muggy and hot low 80°s.

Our tour was pretty amazing. Ryu is super fun and an entertaining guy. We laughed a lot and he made little adjustments along the way. We saw amazing views. We ate a a nice local ramen spot Rei Rei Tei which was Delicious! Having a private tour is the way to go and do it with Ryu. He is too funny.

Ryu was an outstanding guide. He customized our tour from our hotel in Osaka, in 8 hours we visited Nara, Todaiji temple, Arashiyama (Bamboo Forest), and Golden Temple. We had an incredible one day tour of Kyoto and Nara, all thanks to our amazing guide, Ryu. He was incredibly easygoing, attentive, and patient throughout the entire day. Ryu is highly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights at every stop. In just one day, we saw the friendly deer at Nara Park, visited the breathtaking Todai-ji temple, and explored the key historic sites in Kyoto. Ryu was an absolutely incredible guide in Kyoto. From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient, and genuinely passionate about showing us the best of the city. What really stood out was how much effort he put into making everything feel personal and seamless. He did not just guide me around Kyoto, he made the whole day feel special.
