En combinant notre visite de l'Outlander et notre visite du Loch Ness avec des guides locaux des Highlands, nous voyageons d'Invergordon le long de la rive du Cromarty Firth et faisons route vers Beauly , en nous arrêtant à Robertsons Farm Shop pour voir quelques Highland Coos . Nous continuons jusqu'au prieuré de Beauly , le monastère du 13ème siècle construit pour un ordre de moines valliscauliens. Le prieuré était un ancien lieu de sépulture pour les clans Fraser et Mackenzie et a figuré dans Outlander. En laissant Beauly derrière nous continuons sur la colline de Culnakirk à Drumnadrochit et visiter le château d'Urquhart qui se trouve sur un promontoire s'avançant jusqu'au Loch Ness , les vues sur le Loch sont fantastiques d'ici et il était près d'ici où St Columba est réputé pour avoir vu le monstre du Loch Ness. Nous nous dirigeons ensuite vers Inverness où vous aurez l'occasion de visiter la nouvelle expérience du château d'Inverness et de déjeuner et de voir un peu du centre-ville. avant de nous rendre à Clava Cairns et Culloden Battlefield avant de vous ramener au port.

En route pour Beauly, nous nous arrêtons à Robertsons Farm Shop à Beauly où nous verrons de magnifiques Highland Coos , dont un magnifique Taureau noir nommé Jamie Mackenzie Fraser en hommage au héros Outlander.
Le prieuré de Beauly a été fondé au 13ème siècle comme monastère pour l'ordre valliscaulien des moines de Dijon en France , les forces Oliver Cromwells ont été responsables de la destruction du prieuré au 16ème siècle. Pendant des siècles, ce fut un lieu de sépulture pour les chefs du clan Fraser et Mackenzie et leurs familles. Leur connexion est avec l'Outlander car c'est ici que Claire a rencontré le Voyant.
Le château d'Urquhart est situé sur un promontoire qui s'avance dans le Loch Ness et a été combattu à plusieurs reprises au fil des ans. La vue sur le Loch Ness depuis le château est fantastique et pendant la visite, vous pouvez aller explorer les ruines de ce château vieux de 1000 ans et vous pouvez descendre au bord de l'eau du Loch Ness. Gardez les yeux ouverts au cas où Nessie ferait une apparition.
Inverness est connue comme la capitale des Highlands. Nous nous arrêtons à Inverness et visitons la vieille église où les prisonniers jacobites ont été exécutés après la bataille et vous verrez des marques de boule de mousquet sur le mur de la tour où les exécutions ont eu lieu. Vous aurez également l'occasion de visiter la plus récente attraction touristique d'Écosse - le château d'Inverness où vous pourrez également prendre un déjeuner et voir une partie de cette ville historique.
Nous visiterons Clava Cairns et vous pourrez entrer dans 2 des 3 Cairns, ce cimetière de l'âge du bronze vieux de 4000 ans est l'endroit où Diana Gabaldon s'est inspirée pour sa série Outlander et vous verrez la pierre Cleft et les cercles de pierres autour des Cairns.
La bataille de Culloden en 1746 est la dernière bataille livrée sur le sol britannique . Nous nous promenons dans les principales zones du Champ de Bataille où ont eu lieu les combats les plus violents et notre Guide vous parlera des Jacobites et de la bataille, vous verrez le cairn commémoratif , le puits des morts et les pierres tombales des clans ainsi que Leanach cottage. Cette visite est en tête de liste pour les fans d'Outlander.

Taking this private tour was a great decision. Lawrence, our driver and guide for the day, was excellent, taking great care of us, making sure we got into the venues, castles, etc. not just dropping us off in the parking lot. Professional, he shared his knowledge and history of the area. Schedule was flexible, so we were able to spend a little more time in Inverness. Met us at the Invergordon cruise port and returned us on time. Would book again!

Billy was the absolute best tour guide! Our group had a wonderful time! He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about all of our stops! Every stop on the tour was amazing! My favorite was the Cawdor Castle and Gardens!

Our tour guide, Kevin, showed us the grandeur of Lochness, the exquisite gardens of Cawdor Castle, an old Stonehenge like ruin, called Balnuaren of Clava, the site of the Battle of Culloden, a visit to see the "hurry coos" (hairy cows) and lunch at a fantastic local eatery. We were in a caravan of three cars snd all the hosts were accommodating. They also provided us with tasty local snacks and water. Thank you for sharing your beautiful homeland with us! We visited so many places but did not feel rushed.

Billy met us at the port of Invergordon, on time and ready to show us Scotland. I had a few key places I wanted to see, Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Battle of Culloden and Clava Cairns. Billy made many more stops and I was very impressed with his knowledge. I truly appreciate the extra effort and time to show us as much as he could. We had a short stop in Canterbury and Billy recommended a lovely lunch cafe. This tour went beyond my expectations. At the end of the tour, he gifted us with some lovely Tea cakes. I highly recommend Highlander Private Tours. The cost shadows with the experience, time, and memories.
I would recommend this tour to anyone coming off a cruise ship and has a day to spend in the area. Billy Maclean was our tour guide and took very good care of us. He was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our day with him. He was very flexible given we docked late and was able to fit everything in we wanted to do.

I enjoyed my trip to Inverness very much. The driver showed us many different sightseeing attractions and told us something about the history. As an "Outlander-fan" the driver took us for instance to the locations the author Diana Gabaldon got her ideas from. I thank you Billie very much for this unusual experience. I like to think back on this journey.
