We had an outstanding experience renting a Zodiac for a full day from Wharfside Watersports. From start to finish, the entire staff was professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. One thing we really appreciated was the flexibility they offer. You can bring all of your own gear and supplies, or rent anything you may need directly from them, making it easy for everyone from experienced boaters to first-time visitors. Before we headed out, the staff provided excellent training and safety information to ensure we felt comfortable and prepared on the water. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared great insider tips on places to visit, snorkel, and explore throughout the day. Their local recommendations truly enhanced our experience. We were especially impressed by their honesty and customer-first approach. Because water conditions can change, they made it clear that if conditions prevented us from staying out all day, they would work with us and offer refunds. That level of fairness and integrity is rare and greatly appreciated. Their shop is beautiful, well organized, and professionally run. Every interaction we had reflected their commitment to customer service and creating a great experience. If you’re looking to rent a boat in St. John, we highly recommend Wharfside Watersports. Service was fantastic and the boat is comfortable and handles well. Scenery was incredible. Really fun to dock at Lavango island for a drink.

Scotty McQuaide and his entire team are professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable about what to expect out on the water. Whether you’re a seasoned boater or a complete novice, Scotty takes the time to tailor the experience to your comfort level, making sure you feel confident and prepared. It’s a great way to see the island from a different perspective and truly enjoy everything it has to offer.
Scotty and the crew at Wharfside are THE way to go when you just want to do your own thing. If you’ve got a boat at home, this is easy peezy! Great rig, power, having the Garmin to know your location and depths, invaluable! This is our fourth or fifth year in a row, Must do.

Wow, what an impressive organization!! The owner is incredible and so honest and kind and willing to work with you whatever the weather conditions or situation. We had such a great time despite the high surf and winds. They were totally honest as to what islands we could access on that day, offered us a refund, but we decided to go to the spots they recommended and we had a BLAST!! Wonderful full day on the water. Kids loved it and we were able to access some incredible beaches that we wouldn't have gone to otherwise. Work with this organization and you won't be disappointed!
