Josh was amazing! We had such a wonderful time with him and he was so attentive to us. Saw “Chip” the sea turtle and other pretty fish. Great workout on a windy, sunny day. Was a blast!
It is a strenuous paddle but worth it. Scott's beach was beautiful and Isabel would dive down and show us different fish as we went. We even saw an eel.
It was pretty cool and professional
We had a great time on this kayak / snorkel adventure. You need to be up for a 45 min kayak, hr snorkel, 45 mins kayak to return. The water was beautiful and the shop provides you with all the gear. We saw some cool fish on our journey and of course the weather was beautiful. We would do it again and Kenny was a great guide. Just be sure you’re well hydrated and have had a good meal for fuel prior to. This excursion is a workout as indicated in the description!

We had a great time on this excursion! Our tour guide Kenny was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting facts and tidbits about St. John and the neighboring islands. His warm personality and enthusiasm made the experience both enjoyable and memorable. The only disappointment was that this excursion was marketed as a “kayak and snorkel with sea turtles” experience. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any sea turtles, and we were later told that they are not commonly found in the area where we snorkeled. That felt a bit misleading, as it was the main reason we chose this particular excursion. That said, we still had a wonderful time. The snorkeling was enjoyable, the scenery was beautiful, and our guide’s expertise and engaging personality made the trip worthwhile. I would recommend this excursion—just go for the overall experience rather than expecting to see sea turtles.

While we see green sea turtles on the vast majority of our tours, they are wild animals living in their natural habitat, so sightings can never be guaranteed. At our Honeymoon Beach snorkeling site, we’ve even had days when guests have seen seven sea turtles at one time, along with dolphins, octopus, rays, and an incredible variety of tropical fish. Sea turtles are often in the area, but they may be grazing in slightly deeper water where they’re more difficult to spot until they surface for air. We also snorkel at Scott Beach, where turtle sightings are very common. However, on days with stronger winds or currents—especially when we have younger children or older guests who may not be comfortable with a longer kayak paddle—our guides may choose Honeymoon Beach, where the snorkeling is excellent and there’s still a very good chance of seeing sea turtles. Our guides always choose the location that offers the safest and most enjoyable experience based on the day’s conditions. Thank you for choosing Virgin Islands Ecotours. The kayaking was much more strenuous than anticipated per the description of the excursion, and much more time-consuming. The actual snorkeling itself was disappointing, and that the water was very choppy, and the location required strenuous swimming.

This was THE highlight of our St. John trip. Kenny, our guide was fantastic. He was an excellent kayak instructor as we had not tandem kayaked in years. The kayak to Scott’s Beach was challenging yet very manageable. Kenny explained everything and was very intuitive on safety and where & how to see great sea life. He went a little ahead while swimming so he could point out the turtles, lobster, eel, beautiful Big fish, ray, & barracuda. I love to snorkel on my own but this trip was well worth it as we saw so much in a relatively short snorkel. We had a great time chatting with Kenny who gave great beach & restaurant recommendations as well as knowledgeable history of St John. This trip was so worth the money and time. We saw turtles and many beautiful fish. The guide went far ahead of the group and did not really look after those who were inexperienced, both while kayaking and snorkeling.
