But what made this experience truly special was our driver, Lakmal. It is very rare to meet someone who goes beyond being a driver and becomes part of the journey itself. Lakmal was kind, thoughtful, patient, professional, and always made us feel safe and welcome. By the end of the trip, he no longer felt like a driver—he felt like family. We shared so many moments, conversations, laughs, and memories along the way that saying goodbye was genuinely emotional. The connection we felt was real, and it made our journey even more meaningful. In a world where great service is becoming increasingly rare, Lakmal delivered something far beyond service—he created an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives. I traveled alone from Japan to Sri Lanka, and since it was my first time visiting South Asia, I felt quite anxious at the beginning. However, thanks to Lakmal, those worries quickly turned into comfort and excitement. He kindly guided me throughout my journey from Colombo to Sigiriya and finally to Nuwara Eliya. He took me to places I would have never been able to visit on my own, making my trip truly unforgettable. What impressed me the most was his thoughtful and genuine hospitality. Whenever he noticed that I might be looking for something, he would quietly stop by a supermarket without me even asking. These small but meaningful gestures made me feel very well taken care of. Lakmal is not just a driver — he is a trustworthy guide who makes your journey truly special. It is no exaggeration to say that my trip to Sri Lanka would not have been possible without him. Lionel was our driver for 8 days and he was exceptional, constantly suggesting recommendations to break up the drive whether it was a hike, waterfall, lunch spot. A very safe driver and always super punctual and spoke very good English. Would highly recommend for your trip around Sri Lanka.

We booked with MACK Travel Sri Lanka, a few weeks before departure. All very smooth. We'd never hired a long-term driver before, so were a bit nervous on how it would go. We shouldn't have worried. On the day of arrival, Malinda met us at Airport Arrivals, and immediately, we knew all would be well. Straight away, he helped us with our bags, and 'hovered' while I bought a local SIM and did battle with an argumentative ATM. Malinda's car is a beautiful and spotless Toyota saloon with seatbelts all round (not always the case, in Sri Lanka) and fantastic aircon. Every morning there'd be fresh bottles of water for us, and the car would, once again, be valeted. The driving in Sri Lanka as a whole - but especially in the towns - is chaotic, with tuk-tuks and buses 'coming at you' from all directions, without warning. Malinda's supreme driving skills calmly negotiated all of this - and more - and at all times, we felt 100% safe. Not only is he the perfect driver, but Malinda is such a lovely guy, pointing out things of interest, suggesting ways we could spice up our itinerary, even treating us to some Buffalo curd with honey, from a roadside seller (try it - you'll love it!). Being a local, he is perfectly positioned as a 'fixer' and negotiator. Malinda transported us between a selection of hotels in the south and centre of the country, then was only a WhatsApp message away if we needed him for some ad-hoc trip. We were fleetingly considering hiring a car and self-driving but are SO glad we took this option, as it elevated our entire holiday experience, and I was able to relax (and drink beer!) without worrying about the trip home. When you consider the cost of car hire, insurances, and that constant worry of 'something unexpected' when you return the car, hiring a driver with car is an easy choice. Malinda is a freelance driver who, with his wife, has set up A&M Tours, a tailored Sri Lanka tour-guiding service, 'specializing in providing unforgettable travel experiences, to showcasing the best the country has to offer. Our driver Lakmal is amazing. He was not just a driver, but also a tour guide as well, so he let us know many spots, he took us some amazing places, he told us some tips etc. We really enjoyed this Sri Lanka trip and definitely thanks to Lakmal.

Booked Kushan our private driver who drove us around different places for four days. Pick up at the airport and then drove us to Galle-Nuwara Eliya-Udawalawa-Unawatuna. Also stopped at other sights if we wished. Recommended good places to eat during the trip. Super nice guy who took good care of us and did everything to make sure we had the best experience possible. Highly recommend Mack travel, having a driver for our first week in Sri Lanka made the experience 10 times better, it gave us much more flexibility whilst also making it a more relaxing experience. Angela, our driver was fantastic, he provided additional information and recommendations along the way and took us to delicious restaurants each day, would definitely book again.

Having never been to Sri Lanka before but having some ideas around what/ where I wanted to visit- it seemed to be the most sensible idea to have a car and driver. I fancied coming away from the regimented hotel trips so did a bit a research and found this company who had good reviews. We booked this well ahead and when we arrived we were messaged by the company to arrange our itinerary. They were very flexible giving us suggestions of how best to incorporate everything on our wish list. The driver msg us via what’s app so we knew who he was and what vehicle he was driving. I am very glad that we chose this option and not to drive ourselves ( not safe over here). Our driver Damith was amazing - there was nothing he would not do to try and get the best trips for us. He was helpful with food and toilet stops and got us the best deals he could. He worked very hard with long hours of driving and was always courteous friendly and able to answer all our questions! I am so glad that we met Damith and we will definitely use him again when we return- I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him and the company to any travellers
