Vous entendrez les histoires personnelles de quatre générations d'une famille créole de Louisiane, y compris les histoires personnelles et authentiques des esclaves qui ont vécu leur vie sur Laura Plantation. Vous pourrez visiter la « Maison Principale » de 1805, les jardins et les cabanes d’esclaves originales des années 1840 où ont été enregistrées les histoires louisianaises de Compair Lapin. Ces histoires intimes sur quatre générations de membres libres et réduits en esclavage des familles créoles qui vivaient ici ont été glanées dans des mémoires manuscrites et des documents d'archives des États-Unis et de France. Chaque histoire racontée est un récit vrai et personnel des femmes, des enfants et des hommes qui ont passé leur vie dans cette ferme sucrière.

We really enjoyed this tour - even our teenagers did as well. Our tour guide, Diana, was very informative, kept the tour moving along, but also took the time to answer all of the group’s questions.
Our Guide (Miariam)? Was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job. I took my kids on Juneteenth to learn their history and where some of our ancestors may have came from. Would love to come back to do The Union Soldier tour.

We got there a little early and were glad we did as it gave us time to tour the museum and gift shop before the tour. The museum is very informative. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide; and she told us how this was one of the largest plantations on the Mississippi. We toured the house. The kitchen area was not attached to the house. We saw where it used to be. We toured the slave quarters. It is a well preserved plantation.

Brilliant and thought-provoking tour of this beautiful plantation. Our tour guide, Andrea, was wonderful and spoke with such knowledge and passion. Well worth the hassle of hiring a car for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the day (if enjoy is the right word)!

Very poor experience. Our young mexican guide did not know much about the history and could not answer any questions outside what someone had taught her. We had been to several of the plantations in the area and had a pretty good understanding of the history. Her answers did not make much sense at all when we asked questions outside of her speech. I felt like she did a very big disservice to the history of the area.
Since opening to the public in 1994, Laura Plantation has been a model of historic interpretation that reflects the diverse cultures, backgrounds, languages, and identities that have always characterized Louisiana. We are proud that this diversity is visible and audible today in our professional, multilingual historic interpreters. For anyone who might read this review it is clear that the tone and language are both xenophobic and demeaning to the knowledge and years of experience of our staff member who has lived in the area for most of her life. To state that she is inarticulate and has no knowledge of local history is not only incorrect, it is insulting to everyone at Laura Plantation who strives to provide a quality experience to our guests.
