Lorsque nous nous dirigerons vers le centre-ville, nous marcherons jusqu'à notre deuxième arrêt de la journée. C'est le 'Château de Kyrenia'. Le château a été construit par les Byzantins et de nombreux ajouts ont été faits par les Lusignans, les Vénitiens, les Ottomans et les Anglais. Il y a un musée de l'épave à l'intérieur du château qui expose les amphores, les amandes, les graines et l'épave. Le naufrage remonte à 300 avant JC
Il a été construit comme un port pendant la période vénitienne. Une tour à chaînes date de la même époque. Le port a été construit en forme de « U ». Le bureau des douanes a été construit à l'époque coloniale. De nos jours, le port est utilisé comme marina pour les excursions quotidiennes en bateau. Il y a aussi de nombreux cafés où l'on peut boire de l'alcool ou des boissons gazeuses
Il s'agit d'un cimetière militaire qui remonte à la période ottomane du XVIe siècle. On pense que le moseleum au centre appartient à l'un des commandants de la garnison ottomane.
La ville était entourée de murailles à l'époque des Lusignan. Cette tour est celle qui subsiste de ces années.
L'ancien marché municipal a été construit par les Britanniques en 1887 en tant qu'hôtel de ville. Plus tard, le marché de la municipalité était jusqu'à récemment le centre des fruits et légumes frais. Le 'Bandabuliya' a été restauré plus tard et a été un bazar traditionnel à un café, un bureau et un lieu d'événement.
Le monastère a été construit par Lusignans. C'est l'un des plus beaux monastères construits à l'époque médiévale au Moyen-Orient. Il a une structure gothique. Il était utilisé jusqu'à 16 AD.

The whole trip to Kyrenia was an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Sirin, was very kind, competent, and truly passionate. We learned so much from her about Cyprus's history, which made the sightseeing even more special. The organization was perfect and stress-free. Sirin picked us up in Nicosia, crossed the border with us, and drove us around to show us the most beautiful spots in Kyrenia by car. After the tour, she dropped us back in Nicosia safely. If you are looking for the best trip in Cyprus with a comfortable, private atmosphere, you will definitely have it with her. Highly recommended! :)

Kyrenia castle in the old marina is a must to see. The shipwreck museum in the castle dates back to 300 BC - the oldest in the world. Bellapais Monastery was our second stop of the day. Located on the Kyrenia Mountain. Typical gothic style architecture. I did this tour with Sirin. She was flexible with the start time and I enjoyed the local coffee when we enjoyed outside the monastery. If you are looking for a half day tour I highly recommend this one.

Kyrenia was simply beautiful, and what made it even more special was how naturally Şirin shared her love for the place. She has this wonderful way of weaving stories into every stop, without ever overwhelming you. It felt like walking through the past with someone who not only knows the history, but genuinely enjoys sharing it. The atmosphere at the harbor, the view from Bellapais Abbey, the castle. Everything was elevated by her presence and attention to detail.

Anyone visiting Cyprus is bound to tour Girne Castle and the Bellapais Monastery. We were very pleased with this trip. Recommended for everyone.
