Bears in the forest

The Ketchikan Rainforest tour was excellent. If you are lucky enough to have Will as your guide, be prepared for a special experience! Will was very knowledgeable and kind. He explained a variety of trees, plants and insect life that surely we would have missed. He spotted bear tracks and other evidence of their recent presence. As we approached the estuary, we stumbled upon a bear feeding on salmon! He was pretty close by! Got great pics. This experience was once of our favorites and Will certainly made it a highlight as well!

Will, the guide was passionate about the rainforest he loves and it transferred to us. We left with a greater appreciation of such a beautiful place.

Save your money

Save your money, use it for a better tour. The guide was really nice and all, but the actual tour sucked We went out to the "sanctuary" and they had a few totems, a souvenir store, and a deck for viewing the small area of a very small river. We saw three bears and since we only had 20 minutes, we were on our way. The guide advised us that only their tours are allowed to visit this stop but when we got there other bus companies were there as well She promised us a great viewing place and when we got there I was extremely disappointed. I assumed there was another stop, there wasn't. bummer....

Thank you for visiting the Ketchikan Rainforest Sanctuary and Totem Park 💚 We’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet your expectations. Our guides work hard to make each walk enjoyable, and we’re glad yours was kind and informative. Wildlife viewing can vary day‑to‑day, and the creek area is one of the most active spots during salmon season, but we understand it may have felt limited during your visit. Only our tours are allowed on the site, but I believe some tours do stop at our gift shop area. We do often use other companies transportation when we don't have the capacity with our vans, so that could have been it as well. We appreciate your feedback and the time you took to share your experience.

Beautiful tour! Great guide!

Easy meet up at the dock! About a 20 minute bus ride to the sanctuary driver told you all about the area. Great tour through the rainforest the guide stopped frequently to explain what you’re seeing and let you take pictures. Lizzie (our guide) answered questions along the way! At the end there was a tour of the mill and the totem poles. Highly recommend!

So educational and beautiful!

Betts was our tour guide and he was great. Both the adults and kids (6 and 9) learned a lot from Betts as he's so knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the rainforest. The hike was easy and beautiful but I think our favorite part was learning so much about nature.

Thank you for the kind review 💚 We’re glad Betts made the walk so engaging for both the adults and the kids — he has a real passion for the rainforest and a great way of sharing it. The trail is beautiful, but learning about the plants, trees, and wildlife is often the part guests remember most 🌲🦅 We appreciate you choosing to explore the Alaska rainforest with us!
