Jungle Bike Tour de Playa del Carmen avec Cenote Swim

For anyone wanting an intimate small group tour and wants to be close to nature; this is a great tour for you. The cycling portion of the experience takes you through a very easy to navigate dirt road with small hills that can be ridden up and down with little effort, Alex the guide is a very patient and calm presence that will allow you to dictate the pace of the ride all the whilst providing you with very interesting conversation about the geology, ecosystems as well as the history of Mexico and its people. As someone who has never been to Mexico before I felt very encouraged to talk about and ask questions about these facts that Alex readily supplied myself and my partner with. Last but not least the cenote which we were taken too was very quiet only coming across another tour group after we had been there for some time, I cant recommend this experience enough as a lover of nature, adventure and animals.

We did this bike tour as a couple and were the only people, alongside our excellent guide Alex. We were picked up from our hotel at a respectable morning time and taken in a comfortable twin cab truck to a dirt road quite near Xcaret. The bikes we were given were decent hardtail 29" bikes made by Trek and Scott. The gears and brakes worked well with no chain slip. My GPS watch says we cycled 4.1 miles to the cenote. The road was bumpy but mostly flat and the cycling was not taxing. Alex goes as fast as you feel comfortable going and we enjoyed a moderate pace. There is a short walk with the bikes, down to the cenote, which does involve sometimes picking up and carrying the bike, but it's not far. The cenote itself was tranquility. We were the only ones there. The water temperature was refreshing, but not cold. Alex taught us about the birds that nest in the cenote, the catfish that swim there, the prehistoric people who sheltered there during the ice age when they weren't filled with water and the Mayan people who visited there when they were filled with water. Explained how we know this and how cenotes are constantly evolving. A fascinating insight from someone who is knowledgeable and passionate and has an excellent grasp of English. The cycle back allowed us to dry off and in total we covered 8.2 miles. A short drive back and we were in our resort in time for lunch. An excellent trip out that doesn't take up a full day and would be suitable for many abilities as Alex goes as fast or slow as you need.

Alex was an excellent guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. The pickup was right on time. The bikes were mountain bikes in good condition. The bike ride was easy for anyone. The cenote was beautiful, clean and interesting. It was good to go early in the day (8 am) to avoid crowds which arrived as we left. The only caution is that you might need to carry your bike a bit through the jungle, something kids and others might not be able to do. Check with Alex if that might be an issue.

I had booked this bike ride and cenote visit as a solo traveler. I was the only participant that morning and therefore got a private tour from guide Alex. He has made the excursion a great experience! His passion for nature, enthusiasm about the cenotes and all the stories and information he gave about them, made it a complete trip. A lot learned and seen. He was even open for a 2nd cenote visit where we went by bike. All in all a great experience that I definitely recommend! Even if you are not top fit, doable. Alex is a fantastic guide to the local area with a deep knowledge and respect for the ecosystem. We arrived early enough at the cenote to enjoy it alone in silence for a while and he was able to answer any questions I had and provide good conversation. I was also able to practice my Spanish as he speaks very clearly (in addition to English). It’s a 3-4 hour round trip and well worth it.

Alex shared with us the magic of the Cinote and we discovered more than that. Alex shared with us the philosophy for adults to "play" and escape the rigidity of life. This was the adventure of a lifetime and I can't wait t o return to Alex's company.

Alex, the owner of the business is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He takes a small group and you get a very personal experience. We have visited other.Cenotes but they’re always ended up being larger groups and it felt a lot more touristy. This does not feel touristy at all feels like a very personal experience and again Alex is 100% amazing. He also takes people on dives. I highly recommend him and his tours…
