Juneteenth and Beyond African American Van Tours

Description

This experience is packed with the history of Galveston and beyond. While you may know some of the history so much more detail was given to historical events some I knew and some I didn’t. Also, this experience connects to a lot of what is going on today. I would recommend this experience as it was the highlight of our vacation. Our tour guide is an excellent source of the history of Galveston. You will walk away, feeling glad that you had the experience.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I hope to see you again soon on Galveston Island!
Tour was excellent! We all learned a LOT! The guide was very positive, knowlegeable and informative. We loved the history of the means and methods of how ex-slaves made a living. Geographical tie-ins were interesting as well as sooooo much more. We truly encourage you to take this tour with Lady Juneteenth! Laura and family

The tour and the tour guide was excellent. We were on a girls trip and all of us agreed that we learned so much about Juneteenth in Galveston! The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which made most of us want to know more. It would be a great experience for families with grade school children.

I took the Juneteenth and Beyond Guided African American History Tour with Dr. Arominta Sorrell and it was absolutely fantastic! Not only was she an extraordinary guide with deep, granular knowledge of the local history and architecture, but she also showed us the best hidden gems in Galveston like the alley houses, churches, statues, and mural. Every stop was perfect. I couldn't recommend this experience enough!" Be mindful of incorrect information given by Viator in booking your tour-owner directly would be best.

Ms. Araminta was very knowledgeable about our rich Black History in Galveston. The tour was VERY informative. She showed us some alley houses as well as a house that was the size of slave’s house. She showed us some homes that had survived the hurricane in Sept. 1900. I give this tour an A+

This was by far the best tour I have ever been on; including trips abroad. Dr. Sorrell has so such knowledge about the African American experience in Galveston and was able to make it come alive for me. If you go to Galveston make this tour a priority. She is so personable and down to earth. The tour is on an air conditioned van. So you are comfortable and can immerse yourself in all the information she has to impart.
Thank you for touring with me. I enjoyed our time together. I look forward to seeing you again on Galveston Island.
