This tour is a great way to know more about Hongkong food and what to eat at each meal. Our guide Carrie was very nice and gave us a lot of information about the food and what to eat. She also introduced freshly made food such as pineapple cake, dumplings and noodles and let us notice the difference when food is handmade fresh every day and that it can be worth to spend the money to get better quality. Carrie is a very nice guide and we can warmly recommend you to book this tour.
This was a great way to spend a morning in Hong Kong. Carrie was a terrific guide—thoughtful, engaging, really knew the neighborhood, the restaurants/vendors, and the food. Got to check out a bunch of spots I never would have found on my own—food was a great mix of classics and dishes I had never heard of or tried before. Highly recommend! Hope to try another one of their tours on a return trip
Really fun experience! Cecilia was fantastic. A great combination of good food and cultural information. Highly recommend!
Carrie was an excellent guide - she has great energy. She took us to places you’d never think to go on you own and try food you possibly wouldn’t order. We had a nice bunch of 4 travellers so it was great to meet people while travelling alone. Highly recommended.
This food tour stood out from every other we’ve done. Carrie took us into a rarely visited, deeply local area of Hong Kong Sham Shui Po— no tourist traps, just family-owned businesses that have been part of the neighbourhood for decades. What made it so special was how much ground it covered without feeling like a tour. Between food stops she’d point out a pawnshop, a knife sharpener, the walk-up buildings above us — small details that added up to a real picture of who lives here and how. Through the food, the streets and the occasional peek inside, we got a genuine glimpse into everyday Cantonese life. Carrie has been doing this for ten years and it shows. She brings the perfect mix of passion, knowledge and ease — nothing felt rushed or overloaded. Her warmth and connection to the place comes through in every stop. One of the most immersive and authentic experiences we’ve had travelling. Highly recommend.
Had an amazing time on the morning tour with Carrie—she was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We tried some fantastic local spots and learned a lot along the way. One of us had a food allergy, and it was handled really well—we felt very confident throughout. Everything was well organised and easy from start to finish. Definitely recommend.
Carrie was a fantastic tour guide, and we learned a lot about the neighborhood and the food places in it. Got a "behind the scenes" look at several of the places, which was a nice perk compared to some other tours I did in HK. Would highly recommend!
This was a highlight of my trip to Hong Kong. Carrie was my guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, kind, and just a fabulous guide. The food was delicious and I appreciated the tour company's care in selection of restaurants that we visited. There were no chains and each stop had a story with it. I think my favorite stop was the Traditional Breakfast Shop with rice rolls, but there truly were NO misses. Thank you for enhancing my trip to HK. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys savoring the true local flavor of a city. Thanks Carrie!
I rarely leave reviews, but I found this tour through the guidance of Tripadvisor so I must reciprocate the good will. This tour may very well have been the highlight of a two-week trip. Carrie is the best guide you could ask for, immersing you in the culture of Hong Kong while making you feel very welcome. She is incredibly knowledgeable and does a great job of teaching about the area and the local customs. There was never a dull moment. We've been on many tours in different parts of the world and this one truly stood out as one of the best. If you're reading this and waffling about whether this is the right tour for you, this is your invitation to quit searching and just book it.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable time at the Sham Shui Po with Cary. I had a particular request for a vegetarian tour and Cary was excellent in making sure we had a wonderful tour. She was knowledgeable, helpful and shared personal insights which made the experience really come alive.
