Nous commencerons notre voyage au Parque Colón, qui est l'épicentre de la ville coloniale et sert d'espace de loisirs central. Ici, vous trouverez une riche concentration de monuments remarquables, tels que la Catedral Primada de América, le premier hôtel de ville de Saint-Domingue, la pittoresque Calle El Conde, des restaurants célèbres, des boutiques et bien d'autres attractions. Au cœur de ce parc se dresse une statue de Christophe Colomb, érigée en 1887 par le talentueux sculpteur français Ernesto Gilbert.
Cette cathédrale et basilique mineure, située dans la ville coloniale de Saint-Domingue, en République dominicaine, est consacrée à Sainte Marie de l'Incarnation, également connue sous le nom d'Annonciation. Officiellement, elle porte le nom de la Sainte Basilique Métropolitaine de l'Église Cathédrale Notre-Dame Sainte-Marie de l'Incarnation ou de l'Annonciation. Il est situé à l'intersection des rues Arzobispo Meriño et Isabela La Católica, près du Parque Colón, avec son entrée principale orientée à l'ouest, face à la rue Arzobispo Meriño, près du coin avec Arzobispo Nouel.
Le Panthéon National est un lieu dédié à être un mausolée où sont conservés les restes mortels de personnalités marquantes de l'histoire de la République Dominicaine. Cette enceinte compte environ 36 espaces vides destinés à abriter les dépouilles des futurs héros nationaux. De plus, il comprend un espace sans plaque spécifique en l'honneur du soldat inconnu.
Le Musée des Maisons Royales, autrefois appelés Palais Royaux à l'époque de la Capitainerie générale et de la province, est installé dans deux palais datant du XVIe siècle. Il a été construit sur ordre de la couronne de Castille, sous le règne de Ferdinand II d'Aragon.
L'Alcazar de Colomb a été érigé entre 1511 et 1514, en s'inspirant de la conception d'un château existant à Mancera de Abajo, Salamanque (Espagne), dont il reste encore des vestiges en ruines.

We were delighted with Fernando; he explained everything in detail and with great kindness.
We were 10 minutes late for the meet up due to traffic and had to contact the operator since we couldn't find the tour guide. It seemed he had already left possibly with a group. We had a replacement guide come but the tour was super quick. We didn't get much more than some superficial explanation at each site. It was better than nothing but not a great tour. It didn't seem very organized - could the original guide have waited 10 mins for us?
Today we take a guided tour with tickets included in the colonial area with Coprixa Travels. Domingo, our guide, came to pick us up at the hotel. From the first moment he made the ride a trip to the past. Every street has its history. Every corner a secret, which Domingo with his clear and simple explanations, made more interesting still. We toured many places and in each there was always some history to add. Thank you Coprixa Travels and thank you Domingo. Super recommended!!!

I had a wonderful tour with Eugene who was very knowledgeable and who also spoke very good English (although at times I couldn't always understand all of what he said - partly his pronunciation, partly my hearing!). He was especially mindful and helpful when crossing the streets and traversing the uneven walkways, which I very much appreciated. This is a short historical tour but covering all of the major historical buildings in this fabulous Colonial City (UNESCO Herige site). Highly recommend.
Participating in this historic tour of the Colonial Area was an unforgettable experience. From the very beginning, our expert and passionate guide immersed us in the rich history of this iconic place. The tour began at Parque Colón, where we learned about Christopher Columbus and his impact on American history. Then we visited the Primate Cathedral of America, an architectural gem that, with its impressive Gothic and Renaissance details, transported us to the 16th century. We walked along Calle de las Damas, the oldest street in the New World, where we were told fascinating anecdotes about the first settlers and saw historic places like Fortress Ozama and the National Pantheon. Every corner has a piece of history waiting to be discovered. The guide not only narrated historical data, but brought them to life with stories of characters who lived at that time, making us all feel part of that past. In addition, he recommended local shops and restaurants where we could taste Dominican delicacies at the end of the tour. The tour also included quiet moments, such as a stop at Plaza España to enjoy the view of the Alcázar de Colón as the sun began to set.
The guide was very experienced and knew all the cultural facts. But it got kind of boring , we would have enjoyed someone more lively
Wonderful experience, we learned about the history of the Island, our guide was wonderful, he knows all the history very well and his attention was first class, I recommend taking this tour.
