Description

We had a fantastic tour with Sandy to see the highlands! The mini bus was extremely comfortable and he provided interesting commentary and stories at points throughout our ride. We had short stops for photos at several points (including hairy coos) throughout the tour. We had time to explore Doune Castle on our own. Make note of the tour's recommendation to book a visit ahead of time if you want to go inside. We booked for 10am as noted and arrived a bit early, and the staff would not let us enter until 9:55am because it was busy. They were allowing limited people to purchase tickets there so it's worth booking ahead to be safe if you want to go inside. They provide an audio tour with admission. We had time on our own in Inveraray to have lunch and explore. After eating lunch, we did not have enough time to go inside the Inveraray Castle. It is about 15 minutes to walk up to the castle from the town, so we just walked around outside. We had time on our own again in Luss to go for a short walk to explore the town. It was a long day, but definitely worth it to see sights outside of Edinburgh.
Thank you for your lovely 5 star review! We’re so glad you had a great day exploring the Highlands with Sandy and enjoyed the scenery, stories, photo stops and beautiful places along the way. Thank you also for sharing the helpful tip about booking Doune Castle in advance. We really appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again on another Scottish adventure! - Discover Scotland Tours
What a day! Dougie was a wonderful, funny, and knowledgeable guide. He made the long day a joy while we learned a great deal about these attractions and Scottish culture. And we loved the Scottish coos!! Thank you Dougie!
Thank you for your great 5 star review! We are delighted that you enjoyed Dougie's knowledge and sense of humour. It also great to see you loved our Highland coos! We hope to welcome you back in the future! - Discover Scotland Tours
This was a disaster. From 8:30 to 6:30 on a bus driven by a local who talk incessantly and consistently about murder, robbery and shameful acts in the history of Scotland not the historical record of the country to be proud of. Then when he got hoarse he became a dj playing music no one wanted to hear. Across 30 years and 98 countries, all the river tours in Europe and 48 transatlantic trips,6 transpacific trips and 2around the world journeys this was by far the worse day, worse guide and worst itinerary we have had to endure. Boycott it or pay the price. 2 crumbling castles, one small town with nothing to see. 3 bridges and sterling castle from the road. What a joke. Outright theft and deception by the promoter. Shameful and shameless promotion by money grabbers taking advantage of paper laying still while written on!
It’s always disappointing to receive negative feedback regarding an experience but we are unsure why you have chosen to use words such as deception and money grabbing. Your tour listing on Viator would have clearly stated exactly where the tour would be visiting and for how long. We therefore do not know why you would have felt deceived in any way. The 2 “crumbling castles” you have mentioned were Doune Castle which played an important role in Scottish History long before it’s recent TV fame and Kilchurn Castle which we stop to photograph from a scenic viewpoint. We have an extended stop in Inveraray which is a very popular loch side town. It has a historic jail, bell tower and if you visited between Thurs – Mon, you would have had the option to purchase tickets to visit inside Inveraray Castle too. Luss the final stop of the tour is a world conservation village, enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year. Your Tour Leader would have provided commentary related to the areas you were visiting. Stories from back in history can contain more grizzly details since life was so different but this history has shaped Scotland into what it is today. These stories would not have been all that was discussed either. We understand that everyone has personal preferences but this tour has hundreds of reviews, none of which have attacked the popular visitor locations quite like yours. We are unsure what your expectations were from the tour since you did not seem to enjoy any of the locations it was scheduled to visit. If you would like to clarify your concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch directly.
We did the 3 day tour of the Highlands and Isle of Skye and had the most incredible time. The places we went to absolutely took our breath away - the beauty of Scotland is hard to put into words. Being on a tour also made it very convenient since most of the places we went to were very busy with tourists and parking was difficult - so we were very grateful we didn't have to deal with that or driving on the windy roads! The van is very comfortable with large windows for getting a great view during the drives. Our guide Gary was amazing! He told the most wonderful stories of myths and legends, was very knowledgeable about all of the places we visited and just went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. We have 2 daughters (8 and 11) and he made it extra special for them with the endless supply of cookies and dressing up as "Gary Potter". I would highly recommend this tour company to anyone looking to visit Scotland!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are thrilled you had such an incredible time on tour with Gary. We are so happy to hear how Gary made the tour that extra special with his stories, and "Gary Potter" persona. Thank you for the recommendation and we will be sure to pass along your kind words. - Discover Scotland Tours

Great experience and Stuart was amazing! Castles were the highlight of the trip for us. The views of the Lochs were beautiful also.

A lovely experience. The tour was well organized and the van was very comfortable. I especially loved that we were a smaller group. The destination were beautiful, especially Inverary. We had 'wee' Stevie as our guide and couldn't have asked for a better one. He was knowledgeable about the area, extremely kind to our kids and the other passengers. His natural flair for story telling combined with his knowledge made the trip absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for your lovely review! We are delighted you had a lovely experience and found the tour was well organised and comfortable. We are glad to hear Stevie was knowledgeable and his stories are always great, we will be sure to pass along your kind words. - Discover Scotland Tours
Ron was absolutely incredible as a tour guide, amazing storytelling and so knowledgeable about Scotland history. Plan to return with family next year and book again!

We had Kyle as our guide not once, but twice on two different day tours (completely by coincidence!), and he was just as entertaining, knowledgeable, and engaging the second time around. The scenery throughout the tours was absolutely stunning, and Kyle always seemed to know the best hidden viewpoints and photo stops that you wouldn’t find on your own. His stories and insights about Scotland made the drives between destinations just as enjoyable as the stops themselves. These day tours are a fantastic way to experience the highlights of each region. The itinerary is thoughtfully planned to make the most of your day, allowing you to see far more than you could on your own in the same amount of time. It was exactly what we were looking for during our short time in Scotland. Anyone considering a tour with Discovery Tours, especially if you get Kyle as your guide, is in for a fantastic experience. We hope to be back for another adventure someday! Tioraidh an-dràsda!
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are thrilled you had not one but two incredible tours with Kyle, his knowledge and personality makes for a remarkable tour. We will be sure to pass along your kind words. We are so happy you had the perfect introduction to Scotland and hope to see you on tour again soon! - Discover Scotland Tours
