My wife and I booked a private charter with Salinity Charters while staying at Le Taha’a, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. They picked us up directly from our resort at our requested time and sailed all the way from Raiatea to meet us. From the moment we stepped aboard, we knew this was going to be different from the typical “sailing” excursion. Unlike many charters that spend most of the day motoring around, we actually sailed. The wind was great, the boat handled beautifully, and it was an authentic sailing experience from start to finish. The captain was fantastic and even let me take the helm for a while, which made the day even more memorable. As someone who appreciates real sailing, I loved being able to help catch the wind and experience the boat under sail rather than just riding along. The entire experience was relaxed, professional, and personalized. If you’re looking for a true sailing adventure in French Polynesia, Salinity Charters is the real deal. I’m so glad we booked this excursion! We had a great day at sea and the perfect weather. Maywan and Robinson were the best guides. They both made sure we were always comfortable and took great care of us. They even docked in shallow water so my husband who doesn’t know how to swim could enjoy the water. The private tour was amazing. Our family consisted of myself wife and two kids 7 and 1. The guys took care of us incredibly and showed us the entire lagoon with a private island experience in the end. What a great time!! Tacking into the wind , then ripping it down wind. This was sailing. Then for snorkeling the captain knew right where to go. I did not know there were this many different fish in the sea.

Today we went on a sailing trip with Sailinity, hosted by Mérouane (see photo), and honestly, it turned out to be one of the highlights of our time in French Polynesia. From start to finish, everything felt incredibly well organized, personal, relaxing, and authentic. We were picked up by a small boat at the end of the pier and brought to the larger sailboat, which already made the whole experience feel special from the very beginning. Once on board, the first thing we noticed was how spacious and comfortable the boat was. There is plenty of room for everyone, so you never feel crowded or packed together like on many tourist excursions. The large nets with cushions are amazing — the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the views, and just fully take in the experience. Way better than the hard seating on a ‘regular’ tourist excursion boat. Another thing we really appreciated is that there are never too many people on board at the same time. Of course, it’s always fun to meet other people, but it was also so nice to still have your own little space to relax and enjoy the scenery peacefully. It made the whole trip feel much more exclusive and personal. The boat itself sails incredibly smoothly and comfortably. There is also a freshwater shower on board, which was such a nice touch after snorkeling in the salt water. Snorkeling equipment is available as well, so everything you need is already taken care of. Communication before the trip was excellent and very easy. Mérouane speaks French and also very good English, which made everything simple and stress-free. We knew exactly where to go, what to bring, and what to expect. He truly thinks along with you and clearly wants to create the most unforgettable experience possible for his guests. Mérouane himself deserves a special mention. He is extremely friendly, passionate, and clearly a sailor at heart since a very young age. You can immediately tell that he has a huge amount of experience at sea and knows exactly what he is doing. Throughout the trip he shared interesting information about the islands, the ocean, and the surroundings, while also sailing us to the most beautiful spots imaginable. He has a lot of knowledge and casually shares fun facts along the way, which makes the whole experience even more special and memorable. Once we settled onto the nets, we started sailing while Mérouane continuously offered us drinks throughout the trip, which was very appreciated in the tropical heat. We sailed toward a stunning motu where the water was unbelievably clear and the most beautiful shade of turquoise imaginable. The water there was also not too deep, which made snorkeling very comfortable and relaxing without getting exhausted from swimming. During the snorkeling stop we saw blacktip sharks, stingrays, countless tropical fish, and beautiful coral. It honestly felt like swimming inside a postcard. When we got back onto the boat after snorkeling, delicious snacks and refreshing drinks were waiting for us, which was such a perfect touch. After that, we slowly started sailing back toward Raiatea while enjoying the incredible scenery, the lagoon breeze, and the peaceful atmosphere. All in all, this was truly an unforgettable day and one of the most authentic experiences we have had during our trip. We would absolutely choose this over the typical overcrowded tourist excursions any day. With Sailinity, you get a genuine experience with real personal attention, passion, and care. We cannot recommend this enough!
