It was a wonderfully beautiful experience; at first, I could not surf, but after three days, I was doing comparatively well.

We did the 3-Day Stellar Package at Iguana Surf, and I cannot recommend them enough for families looking to get into the water. From start to finish, the entire team made us feel super welcome! The Stellar Package was worth every penny. It included: • Daily Lessons: quality instruction that actually produced results. • Surf Photo Package: We walked away with amazing action shots and memories we’ll keep forever. • The Gear: Unlimited board rentals (including boogie boards!) meant we could play in the waves all day. • The Swag: The kids got cool T-shirts that they refuse to take off! Quaity Staff The "vibe" of a surf shop starts at the front desk, and Diego, Cristian, Kurt and Tasha were absolute legends. They were so friendly, welcoming, and made the logistics seamless. As for the instructor: Greivin, Ringo, Manuel, Andres, and Junior - you couldn't ask for a better crew. They were incredibly supportive and patient with our kids. They didn't just teach them how to stand up; they built their confidence and made sure they had a blast. Their encouragement is the reason our kids are already asking when they can come back for more. What really impressed us was their flexibility. One of the days the surf conditions weren't great, and the team allowed us to reschedule to the following day at the very last minute. They truly care about you having the best possible experience rather than just checking a box. My husband, 8 yo daughter and I had a fantastic three days of surfing. We had one instructor - Brendan - for my husband and I, and a private instructor - Allison - for our daughter. Our main instructor Brendan was an excellent teacher, gave great tips or form, timing, and position which made us all better riders. Most importantly, he made it so fun for all of us. By the end of three days, my husband and daughter who had never surfed before were easily riding waves all the way back to the beach. The iguana surf team made it really easy to find the right package for my family, and were incredibly responsive when I had questions when booking prior to arrival. We hope to be back soon for more lessons and waves!

I had an awesome experience with Iguana! Edwin was my instructor and he was awesome and so helpful. Iguana also helped us book other excursions, which was a great help!

My daughter and I stayed opted for the Ultimate Iguana Surf Camp Package over New Year's 2025 and had a fabulous time. The highlight was the energy and experience of our surf instructor, Luca, who quickly progressed my daughter from beginner to intermediate status. The beach break at Tamarindo is fun with Casitas and Playa Grande accessible with transport. The Iguana Surf hotel was clean and modern and the staff were friendly and responsive to all our needs. We just got home and my daughter is already asking me when we can go back to Iguana Surf!

Super surf lessons for a beginner from Edwin. He took me in tow and with his help I was soon able to catch golf. Great experience! Super friendly and helpful people! 100% recommend for surfing lessons when you are in Tamarindo!

My son and I (61 and 28) had never attempted any surfing and thought we'd give it a try in Tamarindo. I had very low expectations that I'd ever successfully stand on a moving surf board, but to my amazement, we were both successful on day one. The sign up process for the Iguana Surf 3 Day Package was smooth and easy. Our instructor Kenny was excellent. He gave us a thorough on-land overview and had us in the water very quickly. Thankfully for us, the giant boards they provide for the beginners are very stable and allowed us to enjoy the thrill of riding a way within our first few attempts. Their team suggested a good time for our lessons to allow us nice calmer beginner waves. The waves in Tamarindo and nice shallow depths make it a perfect place to learn and practice this skill. The check in process was super easy. They provided free lockers to store your gear. The showers upon completion were very welcome. Our package included a free t-shirt for each of us, so we can now boast our radical accomplishments to our friends back home. Kudos to the entire operation at Iguana Surf -- and a big shout out to our instructor Kenny --- a very well run operation! Highly recommend!
