Loved seeing the David but as you can imagine it was super crowded! We also had no idea that there was as music room in the museum so this was a nice surprise!
Your guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the topic. Good pace and able to answer questions we had quite easily.
Maurizio’s detailed account of Michelangelo’s history started when we met at the piazza San Marco and captivated us throughout the Accademia Gallery: All Michelangelo's Masterpieces Guided Tour. His knowledge and passion for the subject really provided a valuable historical experience. 5 stars!!
Very knowledgeable guide who loved the subject. An amazing tour with a small group, which is the best with the crowds. Michaelangelo's sculptures are powerful.
We enjoyed our tour of the Accademia very much! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a great deal not only about the statues but Michaelangelo’s life (which our guide clearly has a passion for). Having someone coordinate ticketing and entering the museum was also immensely valuable. Tour was primarily focused on Michaelangelo and statues, which was enough for us.
Our guide, Claudio, was especially knowledgeable and shared with us concepts and ideas that were then easily recognizable once inside the museum. Michaelangelo's various statue forms were presented as a way to understand the master's techniques and nuances that only Michaelangelo could do. We looked at all the planned works and then really had time to admire and understand the David statue very effectively. One of the members of our group recognized the importance of the base of the statue and its biblical symbolism which made the whole experience even more exciting. Thank you, Claudio!
Booked this tour 6 weeks in advance. Then 2 days before the day of the tour, the operator sent me an email to say they wanted me to push back to a later time. I reluctantly agreed (no choice was given) as obviously we had plans afterwards. Shortly after, they replied again to say they had cancelled my booking entirely as "Academia is very busy". When I replied this was unreasonable and they should honour a booking made (esp as their marketing info says they will always run a booked tour even if numbers are small), the owner replied "well you as a customer can cancel too" and that I can find some other operator. Wow wonderful. Sums up this company's service attitude and level of professionalism. Luckily my hotel was able to arrange another tour operator on the same day who did not seem to have an issue getting tickets (and ended up being a bit cheaper too). I showed the emails to my hotel and they said they had never seen such unprofessional behaviour.
Buonasera Derek Tong, We have apologized in all our emails and offered you more alternatives. The point is that you had additional experiences booked so close one to the other. We did not want to cause you any trouble with your later visits. As to the opinion your hotel receptionist wanted to express to you about our company, I can only tell you and all readers of your review that hotel receptionists want way too high commissions for "recommending" good tours, incredibly high commissions which we are so proud, thanks to our indisputable offered quality, never have needed to pay to them. All the best, Maurizio Tocchioni FlorencePass tour operator
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We loved our tour! He was able to answer our questions and offer insight to the sculptures and paintings.
We had a little trouble finding our tour, as we didn't read the meeting directions closely. The tour guide called us and led us to him. That was a plus as it was very busy around the entrance. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on what we were seeing inside. He shared a lot of interesting information. Very good tour!
Michelangelo’s David was worth the frustration of massive crowds. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and personable. However, since our main focus was to see David, the tour got tedious.
