I enjoyed my 3 hour walking tour that began at the Penang Pranakan Mansion and included historic and impressive buildings on Beach Street, the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, Fort Cornwallis, municipal buildings, and harmony junction - a church, Chinese and Hindu temples and a mosque all on one street! Remy was a good guide, clearly knowledgeable on history. His personal perspective and insights added a peppery flavor to the tour. I appreciated his pride and passion for Malaysia. I would recommend this tour to get a good glimpse into how Penang came to be such an interesting confluence of people and their cultures.
5 star experience. The guide adapted to our schedule and helped us understand Kuala Lumpur, with historic introduction, a friendly mi date and a walkthroughs .
Excellent tour delivered by a very knowledgeable guide. He provided really interesting information on the history of Malaysia and KL and on landmark buildings
Our guide, Brendon, was very friendly, funny and personable..and understanding, because we were 30 minutes late to our meeting point due to us getting lost using the MRT & LRT. We were able to commutator with him via text & phone call. He was also very knowledgeable in KL historical interests area and introduced us to many foodie places where we can return ourselves later to try the foodies. We will definitely recommend this tour to our friends….
Our ship docked at Port Klang, which is about 1 hour driving time from Kuala Lumpur. Our driver picked us up from the cruise terminal instead of the downtown meeting point. But he asked for an additional USD80. He got us to a number of standard tourist attractions expertly. However, he was not a tour guide in the traditional sense. He answered our tourist questions the best he could. We spent a fraction of the money compared to the ship's tour but did not come away learning too much about the history and background information about Kuala Lumpur.
We enjoyed the tour with Brendon very much. He is a very intelligent, polite, nice and funny guide and he showed us more than I believed was possible. He also waited for us for almost 30 mins because were late, but still spent full 4 hours with us, and even modified the tour on the go due to some rain. In only 4 hours we Brendon we have been - showed historical sites, with interesting intro into British rule and Malaysian independence, including the stories on how present malaysian scyscrapers are still driven by history - walked through streets of China Town and Little India, and explained how prayers in the Chinese temple work - given the taste of pandan (malaysian plant) - offerred to taste real hand made food (incl. paus), new hipster malaysian matcha and local ice cream - showed multiple fantastic photo places, incl. multiple street art sites AND different rooftop view platforms on Petronas - guided by Brendon through mqny interesting streets, and told fascinating stories about Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia - showed where can we buy gifts for our friends - and many more. Brendon also took care of our transportation within KL and even showed us a badminton store (badminton being my hobby). A great tour, a great guide.
The meeting started with us going to wrong meeting point (totally my mistake, had been provided with correct information but still got it wrong) Brendon went out of his way to pick us up and was very understanding. We had a lovely afternoon with Brendon who is kind, most knowledgeable, and great fun! Highly recommended!
Povan has a vast knowledge about his beloved city either we talk about history, culture, food or anything. And more importantly he is happy to share it with his guests. He is a really nice guy, choose him if you visit KL. Thank you Povan!
The guide did not show up. I rang and messaged every number I could find on my booking. There was no response at all. I submitted a claim for a refund which was accepted that day. That evening I received an email saying the tour was cancelled due to guide’s personal circumstances. Whilst I completely understand that this can happen, I do not understand why I was not contacted as soon as this was known. My phone and email details were provided in my booking. I was extremely frustrated as this was my last day in KL and I had chosen this tour over another similar tour.
Dear Michelle, We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the guide's no-show and the lack of timely communication. While unforeseen circumstances arose, we completely understand your disappointment, especially given your limited time in KL. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll work to ensure better communication in the future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Best regards, Withlocals Team
We absolutely loved every moment of our walking tour of Kuala Lumpur with Manjeet. She is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of history, architecture and culture and clearly loves the city in which she was born and grew up. She also is passionate about sharing her knowledge and preserving the cultural heritage of Kuala Lumpur. We highly recommend Manjeet as an exceptional guide and also Withlocals as an organisation.
