Fête cachée de Baja: Du Mezcal Fumé au Seefood Cuisine

Description

We loved it; both the history and the explanation were spot-on, offering a fantastic experience of mezcal’s aromas and flavors. It was the first time I’ve truly understood what I was drinking. A good mezcal is meant to be sipped, not gulped down.
Our family had an amazing time from beginning to end! Astrid and Manuel were fantastic guides—warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience in Ensenada so enjoyable. We loved learning about the city’s rich culture, sampling a one-of-a-kind tequila and mezcal tasting, and trying the most delicious ceviche we’ve ever had. We’d definitely recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a memorable experience!
My family and I really enjoyed this kind of mezcal and tequila; tasting the difference was exquisite. I loved the mezcal's smoky flavor and its alcohol content, which made it unique. I brought two bottles in case anyone wanted to know, haha.
Warning, doesn’t look like the photo at all. This is a private Walking Tour and lots of history about Ensenada. Xavier & Lizette were wonderful people and took us around the city (which we would never have done on our own). Tasting was us & another couple we met on the cruise (so 4 of us) at a small private tequila & mezcal location but you could only buy there. Tasting guide was funny, but none of us bought anything. Arrived at small tortilla factory after they had stopped production, but Lizette knew a lot about the making and walked us through the process. We were given fresh & warm tortillas with a homemade veggie filling which was delicious! We stopped at a small eatery that Xavier knew with minimal menu, the food was delicious and the additional cost was like $13.00 total for all of us, so definitely worth it. If you want a little bit of everything with private tour guides (willing to stop anytime we wanted), then this is for you! But wear walking shoes!!
This is a walking tour. The guides were very knowledgeable and were so nice to spend the day with. They showed us places that we would have never seen if we ventured out ourselves. It was really nice having them to negotiate with vendors and to guide us away from bad deals.
Had an excellent tour with Lizzette in Ensenada. She explained to us the history of Ensenada and the importance of fishing in its culture. We then made our way to a Tequilera/Mezcaleria tasting that left our group with a new appreciation for the distilling process. After, we made our to a Tortilla factory where they made the most delicious tortillas using volcanic stone as they did in the days of old. Overall the tour was an amazing experience, I would recommend to anyone visiting to Ensenada and wants to fully experience the culture of this beautiful city.
Lizette and Xavier were amazing guides! They made us feel like we were on a VIP tour and made our experience extra special with the additions they made to our tour. A must-do when visiting Ensenada!
Thank you Liselle, we love being very friendly and making our tourists/friends feel happy
The host was very knowledgeable, interesting, and friendly. The tequilas and mezcals, and ceviche were high quality. Glad we did this excursion. 👍🏻
My family and I had a fantastic time at this event. Lizette did a wonderful job of organizing everything and making sure my Mom had a ride from the meeting point if the walk was too far. Astrid, Manuel and Xavier did a great job of explaining the mezcal and tequila making process while also explaining the history and the background of the people making it. In between tastings, Astrid introduced us to some nice toasts and sayings. The ceviche Xavier made was a nice compliment to the tequila and mezcal we tasted. It was a great afternoon that my family talked about for the rest of the trip.
Astrid met us at the Mexico flag pole at the cruise port. We walked a few blocks while she explained the history of the Mexican flag. She was very warm and engaging. At the venue we met Javier the chef and Manuel the tequila/ mezcal expert. All were warm and welcoming. We were given the history of tequila making in Mexico and the origins and traditional use of mezcal. We were offered two types of ceviche with tortilla chips and jicama slices. We then sampled three types of tequila and three types of mezcal. The mezcal is very strong like moonshine. Overall the experience was more than we expected and highly recommend. This tour is great if you want authentic Mexican tequila and a personalized experience!!!
