This trip was very smooth from the beginning to the end. The driver picked me up punctually and we went to Goree Island where we met with an experienced local guide who explained everything about the Western African slave trade very well, it is definitely something that will stay with me forever. Then we went to Lac Rose, where you can have a boat ride or a horseback /camel ride. The driver was very calm and professional. Good times in Senegal!
The tour ran exactly as described. The pickup was punctual even before 8 am from where we drove on to the ferry and went to Goree Island. You have a guide there to tell you about the horror of the West African slave trade. Then you go back on the roade and on to Lac Rose where I had a boat ride on the pink waters with a local. You can buy good food there and souvenirs too, directly from locals. I even saw someone who looked like Nelson Mandela there 😁 It was a lovely day! Communication is easy with the organizer, you can discuss everything you need before, during and after the tour!
Fantastic guides for both the full day and the very moving visit to Gorée. I had a very good time.
I highly recommend this activity! The tour company communicated well and gave us detailed tour of goree Island and the pink lake.
Well organised tour, it's the ideal tour for someone who have no plenty time to spend in Dakar. Senexpat offers also excellent taxi service! Highly recommended!
The guide was really good at explanating all through out the tour both at the island and at the Pink lake. Even before the tour started SenExpat contacted me with details and was checking up doing the tour day as well Very good service
At the airport: in general, in other countries and with other service providers, there are complications (we do not end up easily, my name is incorrectly indicated on the sign, the driver is not on site, etc.) It was totally the opposite with you: just after picking up my luggage, leaving the terminal, I saw the sign with my name (correctly written) and the driver. A few minutes later, I was in the car to Dakar where I arrived at the hotel quite quickly, despite the traffic jams. The car was in good condition and the driver avoided traffic jams. My colleagues arriving later had the same positive experiences with the airport transfer. So: impeccable airport service. A Dakar: The driver waited for us on time at the hotel. We quickly set up the program with him and got started. Throughout the trip he was polite, drove great and helped us when necessary. We filled our day well. Again: impeccable service. In rural Senegal and the Gambia: Until we left, we had very good experiences and Sheikh, our driver could make our stay even better! It was beautiful throughout our trip. First of all, his personality: he is super nice, open, cooperative and a good partner to discuss. His car and his driving style: the car was spacious, we had enough room there despite there being 4 of us with lots of suitcases. The car was always clean, even at the end of the days he cleaned it inside. Sheikh drives so well and so safely that we would want a driver like him at home too. Visits: Sheikh knows everything and everyone. He has perfect knowledge of Dakar, Senegal and The Gambia. There was no impossible with him. Simply, it is beautiful: he is the super efficient person we needed for this type of stay. So we would say that impeccable service, but that word does not express true quality, that is why we say: SUPER IMPECCABLE service! Thank you Sheikh! And big thanks to you, Insa and the whole Senexpat team. We will choose you next time too!
As a solo female traveler, finding reliable and trustworthy guides is incredibly important to me — and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience than the one I had with Senexpat and the amazing Insa Kane. Insa organized and personally accompanied me on a full day exploring Bandia Reserve and the stunning Lagoon of Somone, and it was truly unforgettable. His professionalism, warm energy, and deep local knowledge made me feel completely safe, comfortable, and inspired the entire time. From spotting wildlife in Bandia to enjoying a peaceful pirogue ride through the mangroves of Somone, Insa curated every detail with care. He’s fluent in English, which made communication easy and enriched the experience through meaningful conversation and insights about Senegalese culture, nature, and history. If you’re looking for authentic, well-organized, and safe adventures in Senegal — especially as a woman traveling alone — I wholeheartedly recommend Insa Kane and Senexpat. This was a highlight of my trip, and I’m grateful for the memories!
