Bike rental is very fast People are very kind and helpful I took my bike along Omaha beach and the view is stunning Just have to be careful not to go too far and drain the battery mid journey(which is plenty enough) The road have some up hill and down hill and strong wind, so the electric motor saves a lot of stamina for you Great experience i highly recommend!
Good bike, nice guy @ the place. Went from Bayeux to Gold Beach.
Good quality bikes. Well maintained and a strong battery. Route guidance via an app. Clear explanation from an enthusiastic man. The only thing that was less, was the 3 o'clock rainstorm.. But that made it an unforgettable experience.. Today we're going on the rest of the tour: Omaha beach and the American cemetery but do “en voiture”. Locvelo thank you! Greetings from Marco, Simon, Paula, and Monique
We were provided with LocVelo e-mountain bikes for 4 days. We toured many of the recommended routes from Bayeux including out and back to Gold beach, Utah beach as well as the countryside south of Bayeux. The bikes were excellent, seemingly brand new and there were no mechanical problems. We would definitely recommend this bike shop
My father-in-law had taken out insurance for a cruise, but unfortunately, he passed away 20 days before the departure. For 4 days, I have been trying in vain to contact the company to open the claim and request the refund provided by the policy. The site for opening the claim keeps crashing, and the phone support is practically nonexistent: no response, no assistance, no useful information. A truly disappointing service, especially in such a delicate situation. If I do not receive a response soon, I will turn to IVASS to report the behavior and the serious service issues encountered.
Incredible opportunity. We read about this and it did not disappoint. We traveled poppy filled fields, small countryside roads past historic manors and villages. Beautiful views at Arromanche and along the cliff top trails. The bikes are well cared for and the owner is very knowledgeable and takes pride in his work.
Insure with Europe Assistance. My wife was hit by a bull in India and thrown to the ground. On return diagnosed lumbar fracture. The insurance company Europe Assistance does not even reimburse the cost for the orthopedic bust, the only device necessary for the healing of the fracture (cost about 250 EURO).
Very good reception impeccable material
Took a tour from Bayeux to Arromanches. Spectacular. BUT BEWARE! The navigation app for bike tours will gobble up your battery. The back up power pack they provided was undercharged. I was stuck 26 km away with no knowledge of route and bike curfew was but two hours away. Fortunately the Travel Information center in Arromanches provided me with paper maps. So, besides being wary of your battery reserves, brush up on old world skill of reading a map.
Setting up a reservation and picking up the ebike was a snap. I chose the 55km Omaha Beach and American cemetery route. It began raining early afternoon and I was prepared for that. The scenery was beautiful and the cemetery was a very moving experience. Now the bad news. I was told the bike could 134km on one charge but the battery died at 50km. I was careful to shut off the bike at every stop and after 62km the app still wanted to take me around Bayeux. I never changed the level of assist but dealt with strong headwinds both directions. There's no throttle so I couldn't waste battery that way. Pedaling a dead electric bike is no fun. My old ass was whipped.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback 🙏 We’re glad you enjoyed the scenery and the moving experience of Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. Regarding the battery: the autonomy depends entirely on how the bike is used — the choice between the 4 assistance modes, the way gears are shifted, and also external factors like wind and terrain. This is something we always take the time to explain to each cyclist before departure. With the Bosch motors and 500Wh batteries we use, it is absolutely possible to ride well over 100 km in a day on a full charge when assistance levels and gears are managed correctly. We’re sorry your experience with the autonomy wasn’t as you expected, but we hope the day still left you with strong memories of Normandy. — The LocVélo Team 🚲💚
