Edith was a fantastic guide and made the tour fun from the moment we meet her. The tour was made very easy with good information about the castles, local area and all Romania! Althought Rasov couldnt be visited as has closed, Edith took us to a loverly fortified church in a small village. Would definitely recommend!
Thank you for the nice words. Well done Edith !!
Really enjoyable tour of the three castles. Our guide arrived exactly on time in a spotless, comfortable car. Very knowledgeable about the history of the region, the best photo spots and great conversationalist. All 3 castles very impressive, different and worth visiting. We arrived at the final castle to discover that my wife had left her bag (and passport 😱) sitting on a wall at the last castle. Not only did he drive straight back, he called his brother, who lived nearby, to see if he could get there before someone took it. The brother retrieved bag and passport and the trip continued like nothing happened. He didn't even ask for any additional payment for the considerable detour. Absolute gent. If he is representative of the company, would highly recommend!
Every trip is an experience on its own. We value "the heart and the soul" of our guides, that really makes the difference. Happy adventures, Razvan
A friend and I were in the area for 2 full days, 9/28/19-9/29/19. We wanted to make the most of it, so scheduled this for our first full day. This is a long tour day (10 hrs +/-), especially on the weekends since traffic makes getting between destinations so slow. Bogdan was our guide. We would definitely ask for him by name if we came back. Even though it took so long with the traffic, he wanted to make sure we saw and experienced everything. He was very knowledgeable. When we would enter an area or room, he would share information about it and let us explore on our own. If he saw we were interested in something, he would come tell us about the art/architecture/furniture/landmark-whatever it was. He was a wealth of knowledge and seemed to know how much to share. I would imagine we would have to spend a few days at each site to have time to learn all he knew. His English was exceptional. He was sensitive to when we needed comfort or food breaks and let us know before leaving one area what our options were and how long it would be until the next opportunity. It was late when we got back into Brashov. We had a restaurant recommended to us by many, but it was not close to the hotel. After letting us drop off our purchases at the hotel, he offered to drive us to the restaurant. Bogdan was wonderful and certainly exceeded our expectations. The private tour (for 2 in our case) was extremely worth the price and included all entrance fees and no lines (even though it was a busy weekend). We were very impressed with the price, how the reservations worked, and especially our guide. When reserving, I put in the "special instructions" box, "pick up at - Hotel lobby". The night before our tour, I received a text saying, "Hi! I'm Bogdan, your guide for tomorrow. See you at 9 am at Hotel -." I don't know how it could have been any better. If somehow they could learn to control traffic :-)! If you have the option of taking this on a weekday rather than a weekend, that would be better. But that is not something Viator or your guide can control.
hi, thank you for the nice words. Bogdan was happy to read them. We wish you all the best. Razvan
We found this to be a a highly informative tour with our tour guide, Dan. He was right on time to pick us up at our hotel. With the private option, we proceeded at our own pace. We skipped the lines at Peles and Bran, and enjoyed the extended (first floor) visit at Peles. It's a long day (8:30 to 6) but worth it. Dan made it special.
The private should always be a better option. Also as the guide is always at your disposal. Thank you for the nice words for Dan.
I couldn't decide between giving this tour 3 or 4 stars, because where it fell down wasn't necessarily the fault of the tour guide but it wasn't handled very well. Basically, Peles Palace was very well done, good tour with excellent knowledge and very engaging. The issue happened between Peles and Bran. We had bad traffic which cut into the time but then also we stopped for lunch (the tour guide and assistant ordered pudding when no one else did, so we got drinks to fill the time of them eating, spending more money than we needed to) then there was a lot of queuing for the castle. The result of this was an incredible rushed tour of Dracula's castle which was a shame as I had been most looking forward to this section of the day. I felt unable to properly appreciate the rooms or read the information plaques as there was a need to move quickly- as a result I missed things which I would have liked to have seen. We were told our tickets included all areas but there was no talk of going into the exhibit of medieval torture weapons or the dungeons level- either our tickets didn't include this, which I would have liked to have the opportunity to add to my ticket as a similar offer was made at Peles, or it was and we were denied this chance due to timings- denying us access to an area we had paid to see. I appreciate that this was done by the tour guide to get us to the fortress before it closed but as I had booked this tour largely for Bran Castle, I was left disappointed. I think perhaps this could have been avoided with the restaurant at lunch- this took up a large chunk of time (especially the need to wait for the tour guide's pudding) and it was implied that it was a part of the day as we were ushered in to this one restaurant- HOWEVER, it wasn't as we all paid for ourselves- which is a shame because a quick snack from the food stalls in the local market at the base of Bran Castle would have sufficed and saved us time! Yet, this wasn't offered as an option- of which we should have been made aware. The fortress was very cool with stunning views so I was very glad to make it in time to see. The tour guide did then show us some additional sights such as a look at the main ski resort of Brasov and a stunning view point. It was a little disconcerting to hear the guide say he didn't enjoy the tours and it was just a job to him, not a passion. So, a mix really because the sites were worth it but the logistics and the tour guide (who spoke to my chest every time I asked a question) were far from desirable.
Hi, Thank you for the review. It always helps us know more info from the tours and update our trip notes or information for the guides. After every tour we are analyzing the internal trip report of the shared open group tour option that you joined and we have compared it with your review; the assistant was actually our office staff that was checking the trip notes and timings, especially as August is a very busy month with lots of traffic delays and queues. We wish you great trips and experiences worldwide. Razvan
Great trip. Friendly and funny guide. Also a good booking system! Other companies were hard to deal with. Very busy in August though!
Thank you for the review. It is true, August is always busy month.
If you’re looking for a Transylvania tour in english, this is the only company you should go through. You may find other companies that advertise as cheaper, but they’re nothing more than an drop off service. Christian was an excellent guide. We paid our agreed upon fee, and he took care of the rest. Tickets, Transportation, and a local history was all provided for us. We had a group of 11, so Christian accommodated us a van to fit everyone. The entire day was filled amazing sights and Christian supplemented the sights with several fun facts and a brief history of what we were looking at. I’d recommend this tour and this tour guide to anyone. It was an incredible experience that was worth every penny!
Hello, We really appreciate your nice words and we are happy that you took away great memories from the tour with us. Razvan
We had a great day touring the castles. Pick up was on time by the very informative guide Gabriel. Nothing was to much trouble for Gabriel we even managed to squeeze in a church visit on our travels. This was a great choice of company to do all our tours with. Highly recommend them.
hello, beeing focused on sharing great experienced with our guests, your trips were somehow tailored for your needs. We are glad we managed to fullfil your expectations. regards, Razvan
The private group tour was one of the best decisions we made on the trip! Bogdan was great, he was so nice, SUPER helpful, and knowledgeable :) Thank you so much, this was a must do, the Peles Palace everyone needs to see!
hi, .... and YES, Peles Palace is truely a Pearl of the Carpathians. We highly recommand this visit to all travellers. Thank you for the nice words for Bogdan. we have pass them on to him. Regards, Razvan
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Palace, made all the better for the excellent approach taken by our guide, Alex Mitu. Aside from sharing his wide knowledge of these three sites and of Romanian history in general, we really appreciated Alex's views on a variety of subjects. He is an excellent communicator and his willingness to share and discuss ideas made for a most informative and enjoyable day.
hi. thank you for your nice words. We have passed on the review to Alex. We are happy that you took back nice memories from your trip in Romania. Razvan
