Cette capitale autrefois excellente, orchestrée à 80 km d'Ayutthaya, a été écrasée par la puissance équipée birmane en 1767 et est aujourd'hui classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Un grand nombre de palais, temples et chedis sont encore debout. En 1782, Ayutthaya est devenue la capitale de la Thaïlande. Les principaux sites touristiques fusionnent les immenses statues de bronze de Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, ainsi que Wat Phra Sri Sanphet et Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon.
Sa grande image de Bouddha assis en bronze ou Phra Mongkhon Bophit est l'une des plus grandes images de Bouddha en bronze de Thaïlande avec ses mesures de 9,5 mètres sur les genoux et une hauteur de 12,5 mètres. L'image de Bouddha est assise dans la position de Subduing Mara. Lors de la deuxième chute d'Ayutthaya, le bâtiment et l'image ont été gravement détruits par un incendie. L'image actuelle de Vihara et de Bouddha a été reconstruite et rénovée sous le règne du roi Rama V. La zone ouverte située à l'est du Vihara était autrefois Sanam Luang, où se déroulaient les cérémonies de crémation royales.
L'un des temples les plus importants d'Ayutthaya, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon a une longue et illustre histoire. Et contrairement à de nombreux autres sites antiques d'Ayutthaya, il s'agit toujours d'un temple actif où résident des moines. Les Thaïlandais visitent Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon non seulement pour rendre hommage à Bouddha, mais aussi pour rendre hommage à l'un des rois les plus respectés de l'histoire thaïlandaise, le roi Naresuan le Grand.
Wat Phra Sri Sanphet est situé sur l'île de la ville dans le parc du patrimoine mondial d'Ayutthaya dans le sous-district de Pratu Chai. Il a été enregistré comme site historique national par le Département des Beaux-Arts depuis le 5 mars 1935. Ce monastère était le temple le plus important d'Ayutthaya et situé dans l'enceinte du Grand Palais. Il a servi de modèle au temple du Bouddha d'émeraude à Bangkok.
Wat Lokaya Sutha, "le temple de la Terre" est situé près de la pointe nord-ouest de l'île historique, près de l'ancien palais royal et du Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Le point culminant du monastère est son image de Bouddha couché de 42 mètres de long, généralement drapée de tissu orange. Hormis le prang central qui est en assez bon état, il ne reste aujourd'hui guère plus que la base des bâtiments principaux.
Wat Mahathat (Temple des Grandes Reliques) est situé presque en plein centre d'Ayutthaya. En plus d'être le centre symbolique où les reliques du Bouddha étaient enchâssées, Wat Mahathat était également la résidence du patriarche suprême ou chef des moines bouddhistes thaïlandais. On pense que le temple a été construit au 14ème siècle après JC (le début de la période d'Ayutthaya).
Le palais de Bang Pa-in est un ancien palais datant de l'ère d'Ayutthaya. Ce palais a été construit par le roi Prasart Thong, puis il a été reconstruit par le roi Mongkut après avoir été abandonné pendant longtemps. Le palais est divisé en 2 zones, l'une est la zone intérieure que la famille royale utilise comme lieu de repos, l'autre zone est la zone extérieure ouverte aux personnes normales et aux touristes. Après une agréable journée, vous arrivez à Bangkok à 17h00.

This was a wonderful tour very rich in history. We learned a lot from our wonderful guide Bangon(Bella🤗). She picked us up on time with a very friendly driver with good driving skills. Nicely airconditioned car. Bella knows a lot about Thailand history and made sure we enjoyed and learned about her country. On top of that, she took beautiful pictures for us. For sure a tour to book!
We had a wonderful day. Although it was very hot, we managed to enjoy and be highly impressed by the beautiful sites. We reached the different temples by the air-conditioned car. The pleasant driver waited for us in a cool car at the end of every stop. Outside was a different matter. It was so hot! Our guide Kit was very knowledgeable.Lunch was also very tasty, we enjoyed eating in a local rural place. Altogether, we recommend using this company.
The experience was a private full day tour of the temples of Ayutthaya and Bang Pa-In Palace. We were picked up by our guide Kit and Paul his driver. From the start Kit was talkative and genuinely interested in telling us the history of the Palace and then the Temples. He knows everything. Anything we asked he could tell us the answers plus more. He was a lovely chap also giving us handy phrases in Thai to learn and didn't get impatient with our hopelessness. I also have a huge interest in flora and fauna which Kit quickly understood so was telling me about the plants and wildlife at the palace too. Kit took lots of photos of us together and later sent them to us. Some of which are extremely artistic. He later took us for some traditional Thai food which was very delicious. Kit and his driver Paul went out of their way to find us some Thai sweets which were like candyfloss rolled in pancakes. That was also really good. Paul was an amazing driver. Very smooth and we didn't feel concerned once with his driving. If you get Kit and Paul on your tour you will not be disappointed. We considered ourselves very lucky and had a wonderful day.
Wish I could have had a choice in the car, as it was huge and expensive. the guide was very kind and flexible once i reminded her that i'd come on a private tour to be able to have the flexibility i needed. Was not interested in the huge palace grounds that was the first stop. Ayuthya was very interesting and has a fabulous history.
We enjoyed our private tour of Ayutthaya with Kit. We were able to see many sites around the ancient city, and Kit pointed out best viewing and photo-taking spots. Everything was included (i.e., entrance fees, lunch, etc.), and my group did not have to think about anything on the trip. Kit and his tour company were also attentive and adaptive to our group's needs, which is very important when several young kids are in the group. The adults would have preferred more information on the sites, but it is difficult to balance that with the attention span of the kids. Overall, we were happy with our tour! Thank you so much!

Loved our tour with Kate! She was very knowledgeable and a great host - guiding us around each stop and sharing lots of facts. She also helped us take a lot of photos. :) Booking the private tour meant we were able to go at our own pace and enjoy a very comfortable car all day long and pick up and drop off from our hotel. Bonus: Kate knows where all the best dessert treats are, especially ones that have won Michelin awards - yum! Highly recommend this tour!!
Great full day activity! Out guide Kate and driver Mai (sp?) were fantastic. We saw a lot and learned a lot. We would definitely recommend this trip for anyone.
It was an excellent tour with a competent driver and outstanding tour guide named Kit. The pick up was scheduled for 0800 at our hotel in Bangkok. At 0800, Kit was already in the lobby waiting to greet us. Kit was very knowledgeable of the history of the temples and palaces that we visited. He did a great job pointing out points of interests throughout the tour. The timing of the stops were nicely paced. Lunch was excellent, and the food was tasty. I would highly recommend this tour company to my friends and family.
