Cette visite privée des Météores d'Athènes aux saints monastères de l'UNESCO des montagnes rocheuses de la région des Météores est une visite mémorable! Les roches à couper le souffle des Météores se sont formées il y a 60 millions d'années. Aujourd'hui fait partie du réseau Natura 2000. Il y a six monastères sur Meteora: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Roussanou, Agios Stefanos, Holy Trinity et St. Nicholas. Vous visiterez 2 ou 3 des monastères, selon le jour et l'heure que nous visitons. Les monastères datent du 14ème siècle et sont uniques au monde en raison du trésor incroyable d'objets byzantins et chrétiens dont vous pouvez être témoin. Des objets tels que la tenue classique des moines, des peintures élégantes et du verre gravé. En 1981, le film de Jame's Bond «For Your Eyes Only» a été partiellement tourné au monastère de la Sainte Trinité. Ensuite, arrêtez-vous pour visiter le musée des Thermopyles où le roi Léonidas et ses 300 ont combattu les Perses. Notre dernier arrêt est au village balnéaire de Kammena Vourla où nous vous proposerons un après-midi café ou thé au bord de la mer.

Les Météores sont une formation rocheuse du centre de la Grèce abritant l'un des complexes les plus grands et les plus abrupts des monastères orthodoxes orientaux, deuxième en importance après le mont Athos. Le code vestimentaire est important lors de la visite des monastères de Meteora: les femmes doivent se couvrir les épaules et porter une chemise longue, les hommes ne peuvent pas porter de shorts. À l'entrée de chaque monastère, des jupes et de longs foulards sont disponibles gratuitement;
Thermopylae (Thermopiles) est mondialement connu pour la bataille où 300 Spartiates, dirigés par le roi Léonidas, ont pris position contre les envahisseurs persans en août 480 avant JC. Nous visiterons le Centre innovant d'information historique, créé pour préserver la mémoire de la bataille historique et expliquer les détails de ce conflit.
Kamena Vourla est une ville pittoresque sur la côte et elle est située au sud du site archéologique des Thermopyles juste à côté de l'autoroute pour Athènes. Une très belle halte pour un café ou un thé l'après-midi avant de rejoindre la ville d'Athènes.

Our tour to Meteora with Petros was one of the highlights of our time in Athens. This is an amazing place and a must do. The countryside of Greece is so very different from Athens even the drive was beautiful. Petros is an experienced and professional driver; he filled our drive with interesting, insightful and peaceful conversation but was also sensitive to give us rest and quiet when needed. With Petros as our driver it was not necessary to have a guide to take us into the monasteries. He even shared several recipes with me after we returned. I will definitely book with Athens Premier Tours and Transfers on future trips to Athens and I will be looking for Petros. This is a must do!l and a great value both in terms of money and time. Amazing tour. The pictures are are not even close to the actual view. It was worth it. Our driver, Yannis, was wonderful. The day started with him picking us up in a luxury vehicle at our Airbnb and it ended with h dropping us off at the same location. He had a lot of information about what we went to see. The ride to the location was beautiful. I loved this experience. Worth the money.
