We had a wonderful time on our day trip to Hallstatt. Our tour guide Christopher, was a wonderful guide. Very friendly and has lots of information for everyone. This is along day trip, so this isn't really for children. You'll have two stops, one on the way there and one on the way back for bathroom break and meals. The tour bus very clean and neat, the driver was very good and kept everyone safe. Hallstatt is very picturesquest. It is crowded with tourists, so be patient. Lord of walking around and lots of restaurants and shops.
Excellent trip such a beautiful town and people were great. The guide was very well informed lots of great history
It was an amazing experience but I recommend to take the tour from Salzburg which is much closer But the weather is also very important
Beautiful location, informative and excellent tour guide, comfortable and clean bus ride, highly recommended
Traveled from Vienna to Hallstatt in March 2026 to check out the town. It takes two train rides and a boat ride to get there. Pretty much an all day affair. Note that the boat ride was 8 or 10 euro and they only take cash. They packed everyone on the little boat so it was difficult to find a seat and it was raining. The town of Hallstatt is cute, but there wasn't a lot to do. Many of the shops are closed on Mondays and there were very few sit down restaurants open. I would definitely prefer to go when it had snowed or in the summer and understand it can get very crowded in the summer months.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience visiting Hallstatt. Just to clarify, our tours from Vienna travel by bus rather than by train, and we do not include or operate any boat transfers during the winter season. The train journey and boat ride you mentioned seem to have been part of a privately organized trip. The journey from Vienna is indeed longer, but we always try to make the day as enjoyable and comfortable as possible for our guests. Hallstatt can also be a bit quieter in winter, especially on Mondays when some shops and restaurants may have reduced opening hours. We hope you will consider booking with us in the future so we can show you our service firsthand and make your visit even more enjoyable. kind regards, VIENNA SIGHTSEEING
Memorable experience. The commentator Theodora was excellent. Her commentary made a difference. This trip gives you ample time to relish this magical view.
That is a half day tour m, it would have been great to have a boat ride. I ‘ll ve back low season lees turist
By the clock, organized and must do. Sophie was the tour guide, well informed and with sense of humour. Excellent coach ride, boat ride and the location itself.
The guide is very knowledgeable and shares plenty of interesting information about the country. The place is magical and we had enough free time as well to do our own thing.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback – we are delighted to hear it! Kind regards, Your Vienna Sightseeing Team
Hallstatt is an extremely beautiful town and we loved exploring it but be forewarned, it takes over four hours to get there so when you consider the round trip travel time, your talking about almost nine hours in a bus to spend barely four hours in Hallstatt. There was also a baby on the bus which did not help! The guide and driver were excellent
