Pros and cons

It was great! Service and hospitality was amazing! The only issue we had was the amount of time on the island and the port/gas fee that was NOT included in the description when booking this. When we got there the lady at the counter said it was an extra $20 PER PERSON for the port/gas fee. No where in the description was that listed. So for 4 people we had to pay an extra $80 that we did not know about. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! The time on the island could be a lot better than what it is. The boat does not leave port until 10am and leaves the island at 4pm which is really late for an "All Day" excursion. They need to change it to 8am so guest have more time on the island to do everything that is offered and be able to enjoy the island as well. Overall it was great just be prepared to spend an extra $20 per person for the port fee that is not described!

Beachcomber is worth visiting but don’t expect too much

My friend and I booked this experience in May which was great because the weather was perfect all week. The buffet lunch included in the package was reallyyyy good/tasty and there was more than enough, however drink choices were very limited. The activities were packed back to back and everything seemed rushed. The island is farther than others and travel time on sea is included in your experience which means relaxing time is limited. We missed out on turtle viewing and don’t even know if that was held because there are no announcements for next activity after the arrival briefing. Staff is friendly but less engaging compared to other islands we visited.

Worst experience ever.

I rated this as poor because the trip wasn’t worth the cost. First of all, they never told on their website that they charge extra for the fuel. We found that out when we went to the kiosk to pay for the trip. Secondly, they never told lunch didn’t have much options to choose from. In our mind, we thought that it’s “Fiji” so we would get the Lovo, Kokoda. Dalo, Cassava, Indian cuisine perhaps but no, the food on the menu was fried wedges, roast chicken, beef curry, fried veggies, salad and fruit salad from the cans. Not even the fruits were fresh. Thirdly, the departure time from the island took forever. My sister and I had gone for this day trip. We were told by one of the staffs to wait since they had something else planned as a last item or something, which never happened. We saw others going towards the beach and went too otherwise we would have missed our boat back to Denarau. Who would have paid for that particular trip? Then we had to get on small boats in order for us to be transported to the boat that had actually brought us. Furthermore, our dinner plans were ruined because we arrived late at Denarau. It wasn’t until 6ish pm when we arrived. We enjoyed the beach but I hope our trip didn’t go bad this way. You guys really need to work on this, especially if we paid $500 ( for 2 people) + $38 (fuel charge) then we should get a better deal right. Otherwise we would have gone to another island for a day trip.

Very poor customer service

The trip was cancelled due to poor weather conditions - which is nobody's fault. The reason I'm giving such a poor review is that we were NOT informed of the cancellation until we arrived at the meeting point. It cost us $60 return to get a taxi to the tour operator where we were told they had made the call to cancel the day prior. Apparently they didn't have our contact details - but they hadn't informed Viator, either, and showed no empathy at all when they spoke to us. Very poor customer service. This was meant to be my birthday trip, and if we had known it was cancelled, we could have made alternative arrangements. Very disappointed in so many ways. And since the tour still hasn't been officially cancelled, I don't even know if I will get my money back.

Okish

Food was pretty good. Chicken, beef stew, calamari, salads. Drinks were pretty ok. Zero shade. The people staying in the resort get the chairs with umbrellas. We were able to find 2 loungers that we could put under a tree but, everyone else was sol. We just went to relax so, did not partake in the activities. I found it strange that they had an interactive turtle experience. In Hawaii, turtles are protected and you can't even walk near them.

Read the terrible reviews, believe me they are accurate!!

I wish I’d read the reviews before paying for this day trip. Outdated and well worn looking “resort” Took our children and were looking forward to the glass bottom boat experience only to be told it was out of action for maintenance once we had arrived at the island. No mention of this at all during the booking and paying process!! Morning tea was crap, packet biscuits and instant coffee. They continually ran out of food for lunch and what they did have was poor quality. Disjointed dance display with the MC seeming to have no idea. The coconut and palm weaving display was the only saving grace, the guy doing this was excellent. My advice to him is find another island to work on, your great talent and enthusiasm is wasted at this island!! My advice is do an island day trip to somewhere other than Beachcomber even if it’s extra it’ll be worth it!!

Didn’t want to do a lot of what they offered

This tour which was lined up by a travel agency in Texas, About Australia. The tour to Beachcomber island was not a good tour. Will try to explain a little bit why. The tour started when the Beachcomber representative led us to the boat, about a line of 60 people young and old. She took us to the oldest, most decrepit boat at the wharf. It was supposed to be 45-50 minutes to the island and after 60 people crammed onto this unenclosed, unairconditioned boat, 40 people on 3 long benches and the rest scattered in the front, back and 3rd level. It was a sweaty ride. We arrived and were unloaded in the beach and walked 75 yards to the building that housed the explanation of things to do. People separated towards their chosen event or at a unbrella/chaise lounge on the beach or around the pool. Nothing is paved except the pool cooldeck and the bathroom floor. The coral type chunky sand was everywhere, you had to wear sandals or it hurt your feet but the pieces kept getting on your feet and you had to stop and rinse ir shake out the sand. I chose the pool to sit around and the water wasn’t real clear but ok. Asked for a bottle of cold water and received it, ordered 2 cocktails that were $17 (us) each and the beer and softdrinks were free if you wanted them. The included lunch was average, did I did fine some rice noodles and shrimp that was pretty good. They had some ethnic dancing to loud music and a singalong at the end as people had drank a lot of beer. I do t know about the snorkeling as I didn’t like the equipment they were issuing. Finally the boat arrived and we washed our feet in a pan in order to keep the boat clean. I am sure there are better islands with better facilities in Fiji than this and will find them on My next trip.

One of the Best Island Day Trips in Fiji – Fun, Music & Paradise

We visited Beachcomber Island during the Christmas–New Year holidays in December 2025, travelling from Sydney, and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our Fiji trip. We booked the Beachcomber Island Day Trip – Fiji’s Authentic Island Experience via Viator, with transfers operated by South Sea Cruises. The entire experience was seamless from start to finish. We were picked up from our hotel around 8 am, transferred by shuttle to Port Denarau Marina, and boarded the boat around 9.30–10 am for a smooth cruise to the island. Beachcomber truly lives up to its reputation as Fiji’s party island. DJs, fire dancers, beachfront bars, and a vibrant social vibe create an energetic atmosphere, while the pristine white sand, calm turquoise waters, and laid-back island feel balance it perfectly. You can party if you want, or simply relax with a fabulous cocktail on the beach and soak in the views. A special mention to the resort manager – an absolute class act. He runs the place magnificently, making sure guests don’t have to worry about a thing and can simply enjoy their time on the island. The staff across the board were incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of positive energy. Food and cocktails were delicious, and service was consistently excellent. Transfers with South Sea Cruises were smooth and well organised, making the day completely stress-free. Thank you, Beachcomber Island, for an amazingly memorable experience. If you’re looking for a fun, social, and authentic island day in Fiji – this is it. 🌴🍹🔥

Day trip to beachcomber

Beautiful water, great food including gluten free options and the staff were lovely. Felt the snorkelling guided tour could be longer than 15 min and there needs to be more cabana style seating, the main bar area smelt bad it was New Year’s Day so I assume the sand was a little gross in there and that might have been the smell.

Misleading

Booked a day trip to Beachcomber Island for a group of seven using a local rate. The package was advertised as including water sports, and unlimited food and drinks. Once we arrived, we were told we were limited to only five drinks total per person. This restriction was never disclosed at booking and felt misleading. Food quality was very poor. Only dessert was canned fruit, and there was no local cuisine at all. Overall, the experience did not match what was advertised and was poor value for a six-hour day trip.
