The river safari was absolutely fabulous. We saw crocs, monkeys, kingfishers, chameleon, water monitors and an eagle. Our driver was great and very helpful. We have loved everything. I particularly enjoyed the Buddhist temple.
We booked this trip with Bentota Travel Mart whilst still in the UK via Sam. He was very helpful and answered all our queries promptly. Once we were in Sri Lanka, Sam contacted us via WhatsApp with all the arrangements. The river safari was amazing with Harindra, he was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to go to see the wonderful wildlife. It is a photographers dream. On from that we visited a mask museum where we were given a tour & explanation of exactly what the masks symbolise. We then visited a tsunami museum, the lady that runs it was very passionate and emtional as she told the story of the devastation of that day. We then visited the Dutch fort at Galle. We thought this town was just for tourists and we prefer the local side of Sri Lanka but it is well worth a visit. We then visited the famous stilt fisherman, one of them even caught a fish. The special event at the end of the day was seeing the sea turtle sanctuary. Some of the turtles had been injured but were being looked after and if possible returned to the sea. There were some two day old turtle which we got to release into the water. It was so special and a memory we won't forgot. Bentota Travel Mart have arranged a few trips for us during our visit to Sri Lanka and they have been professional, courteous and helpful. Their communication is excellent and we couldn't fault them. Sam you are great and our driver Ishan was brillant.
We really enjoyed the trip… communication regarding hotel pick-up, day trip program... there's really nothing to complain about... perfect!!!
This trip was an excellent way to see the various parts of the south west of Sri Lanka. The river safari had an excellent guide and found animals and birds that we would never have seen before. The sea turtle rescue centre was really interesting and you see how much hard work they do there to help these little guys. All topped off with a great walk around Galle.
Had a great day out to Galle, really loved all the different experiences, but the Dutch fort in Galle was lovely, could have done with a few hours walking round there, would recommend the trip just to see that. The river safari was exceptional too, don’t know how our guide managed to spot some of the wildlife, which included, a tree snake, chameleon, water lizards, monkeys, crocodiles, fruit bats, it was all so amazing. We had a great day
An excellent full day trip very well organised by Bentota Travel Mart. The tsunami museum, turtle hatchery, and gem factory were all very enjoyable and worth the short visit. Lunch was excellent in a local cafe. The river safari with our Captain Nihail was fabulous and with the help of his ‘eagle’ eye we saw a lot of wildlife. The short stop off in Galle was long enough for us to see what we wanted. We opted to leave out the temple visit as we’d seen enough in Colombo and Kandy. We felt very safe with our driver Dinesh. We were however disappointed with the mask/wood carving stop off as we felt there was too much attention given to the shop which sold very generic products. It seemed a long drive to see the stilt fishermen who were lying under a tree when we arrived and quickly jumped on to their poles and started fishing when we arrived - nice to see but a bit if a tourist thing. Overall Bentota Travel Mart had organised a great day of highlights between Galle and Bentota / thankyou.
What a great day!! Picked up in our own private 7 seater, we enjoyed a fantastic experience! The water safari was superb and the guide was charming knowledgeable and had an amazing capacity to spot wildlife even in dense foliage - incredible! Our visits to the temple, wood carving and gem museum were all interesting and informative and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing and handling the turtles and watching the stick fishermen in action. Lunch was delicious. Our most memorable part was meeting the lady at the tsunami museum who had personally experienced the tragedy. She showed us the devastating images of the destruction caused - it was a somber and very moving experience but one that we wouldn’t have wanted to miss. The wonderful lady is truly inspirational !! A great trip all round and highly recommended.
We did an all day trip and had a fantastic time. We had so much fun on the river safari and saw a variety of animal, the monkeys came down to take fruit from us! Dinesh was our driver for two separate trips and he was lovely and everything was highly organised and efficient! Couldn’t recommend this tour enough!
Amazing tour! Very accomodating and helpful staff. Was so fun seeing and even holding the little turtles and trying out stilt fishing. Our river guide Harry was amazing. So good at spotting so many animals and very friendly. We had an awesome day! Highly recommend
We had an amazing day out, also with driver Dinesh who was considerate. Early start for the river cruise which was really great. Managed to see so much before other tours started. Amazing how the guide could find so many things camouflaged along the river! The trip to the temple was both beautiful and fascinating. The turtle conservation was great and the insight from the guide was brilliant. The tsunami museum was insightful but poignant especially from the owners firsthand experience. Galle fort was nice although extremely hot. Finally, slight disappointment with the stilt fisherman as best to see them early morning or evening
