Connu localement sous le nom de Millionaires Viewpoint, ce doit être 2 des scènes les plus pittoresques des Highlands d'Écosse. Le nom provient de l'entrepreneur Andrew Carnaigie dont la maison était autrefois le château de Skibo. On dit qu'il amènerait tous ses amis en visite à ce point pour leur montrer les vues.
Suivez la route sinueuse qui traverse Achany Glen, le long des méandres de la rivière Shin jusqu'à une ouverture dans la pinède où le majestueux saumon de l'Atlantique bondit dans les chutes tonitruantes dans une vaillante tentative pour remonter le cours d'eau. Chaque année, tout au long de l'été, les poissons reviennent de l'océan ouvert, remontant le Dornoch Firth et le Kyle of Sutherland pour essayer d'atteindre plus haut la rivière Shin jusqu'à l'endroit où ils ont été frayés. Cependant, avant d'atteindre leur destination, ils doivent passer le puissant torrent d'eau des chutes. Debout sur la plate-forme d'observation, vous pouvez observer les saumons alors qu'ils essaient de sauter hors de l'eau. Certains parviennent à réussir leur première tentative tandis que d'autres doivent sauter encore et encore. De la plate-forme, il y a aussi de belles vues sur la rivière Shin, une destination de pêche populaire dans le nord de l'Écosse. (Le meilleur moment pour repérer le saumon est entre mai et septembre.)
Nous nous arrêtons ici pour entrer dans le château, les jardins du château et l'exposition de fauconnerie. Ce château est l'une des plus anciennes maisons habitées d'Ecosse. L'affichage de la fauconnerie est génial et vous serez étonné de l'affichage qu'ils font pour vous
Continuation vers Loch Fleet pour découvrir un mélange magique de faune, de paysages côtiers et de pinèdes. ... Si le temps et le moment sont propices, nous devrions voir des phoques se prélasser sur le sable. La réserve se trouve du côté est de l'A9 à Sutherland, entre Dornoch et Golspie. ..
Le nom « Dornoch » est dérivé du gaélique pour « endroit caillouteux », suggérant que la zone contenait des cailloux de la taille d'un poing (dorn) qui pourraient donc être utilisés comme armes.[4] Dornoch possède la cathédrale de Dornoch du XIIIe siècle, la prison de la vieille ville et l'ancien palais épiscopal qui est maintenant le célèbre hôtel, le château de Dornoch et un parcours de golf remarquable, le Royal Dornoch Golf Club, nommé le 5e meilleur parcours de golf en dehors du États-Unis. Il est également remarquable que le dernier endroit où une sorcière ait été brûlée en Écosse. Son nom a été rapporté comme Janet Horne; elle a été jugée et condamnée à mort en 1727. Il y a une pierre, la pierre de la sorcière, commémorant sa mort, inscrite avec l'année 1722 Durée : 30 minutes

There were seven of us traveling together and we made up the entire group. It was nice to have the personal touch and to not be just one of a huge coach. Ritchie was so professional and knowledgeable, funny and friendly and he wore a quilt! He was great about sharing information for our destinations and the area as we motored along. We had lots of questions and he answered them all patiently and with good information. The scenery and stops were excellent! I would highly recommend Ritchie's excursion!!

Our guide/driver was easy to find when we left the ship. The email the company sent a few days before our shore excursion was very helpful. Dun Robin Castle was the highlight of the tour. Shin Falls is located in a beautiful rural area. This part of Scotland is breathtakingly beautiful. The guide was hard to understand due to his accent. The 8-passenger van was clean and comfortable. The price of the castle admission was not included in the fee, which I thought was a little high for what we got in comparison to similar shore excursions we have taken on this cruise.

We've been on a Cruise an had a day in Invergordon to see a little part of the Highlands. Many thanks to our Guide Richie from Highlland-Tours. Although we were only 2 persons, the tours started as a "private" tour. It was a fantastic day and we've been to marvellous places with time enough to enjoy all the impressions. At ending of the day Richie had some hints for us about scotish beer and sweets. So many thanks and best regards from Germany.

This was a wonderful tour! We had a small group of 6 in a nice van. We had excellent sight from every seat and we could hear the tour manager perfectly, he had a mic on. The countryside was just beautiful, we really felt like we had gone to the countryside and saw amazing beauty more than anyone else! We were on 1-2 lane roads. We had several stops at lookout points, at the Shin Falls with a nice walk down to see them. We were too early for the Salmon run, but it was still beautiful to sese. The Dunrobin Castle was stunning, I loved the garden, looked like a small Versailles! They had a nice cafe inside where you could eat lunch or grab a snack. The Loch Fleet was really cool, we saw a lot of seals, it was just a beautiful area. The town of Dornoch was another quaint stop that we loved! The Cathedral was beautiful, the town was pretty and great to walk around in to see the sights & have a snack if you like.
