Etna et vin : une expérience gustative unique au cœur de la nature et des arômes.

We booked a tour for Mt. Etna and the Gambino Vineyard with pick up right from our hotel in Giardini Naxos. The whole booking and meeting with our guide was smooth. We were picked up by Alex- and to our surprise we were the only ones on the tour today! We were so lucky to have him all to ourselves! His love of and experience at Mt. Etna was amazing! He truly knew his stuff and made it easily understood! He was so considerate of our needs (especially me and my low blood sugars as we ascended the mountain)! We stopped at a chalet for coffee and pastry and then we were on our way! We took pics (with Alex too), joked around and had such an amazing day! Every other guide we met knew him by name and there was such a camaraderie between them! We then left the craters and went to Gambino vineyard! What an experience there! The wine and food pairings were delicious! We loved our tour and a big part of that was due to Alex’s knowledge, personality and sense of humor! We would highly recommend this tour!

I am so happy I decided to book my tour with Lady Etna Tours. Alex came and picked me up and then we headed to our first stop. In the car he shared his knowledge about volcanos so by the time we reached our 1st stop, I knew everything about volcanos that I needed to know! Alex is a fantastic host and guide. His knowledge and passion for volcanos is second to none. Alex also made sure I had a great experience while focusing on safety at the same time. After the volcano tour, I had a nice lunch and tasting at Gambino winery. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend booking this tour, you won't be disappointed!

This was a must do! The volcano trail and wine tasting were a blast!! Alex, our guide was fantastic! He has forever altered our views on volcanoes!!

If you want to have a tour with someone who is passionate beyond belief about volcanoes then Alexandru is your guide. He has an incredible knowledge that I have never experienced towards volcanoes. He told us he travels to volcanoes on every one of his vacations. That is the type of passion he has for them. The winery is also fantastic from the views to the wine to the amazing food pairings.

Alex is a fantastic guide! I felt like I was in a nature documentary in the best of ways. Private tours can be awkward, but I learned so much and he made it super fun.

A fabulous trip with our guide Alex. What Alex doesn’t know about Etna and volcanoes in general isn’t worth knowing. Alex entertained us with his knowledge of volcanoes and local folk law. The hike along the craters was pretty straightforward and whilst walking boots weren’t necessary they were a great help, you could get away with trainers with a good grip. We wore shorts and T-shirts as the weather was very mild but took an extra layer or two just in case. The wine tasting was fabulous too. We tested 5 wines at this family run winery and the wines to our surprise were paired with cheeses, meats, a main course and a desert! A fabulous day out that I would highly recommend.

Alex was an excellent tour guide and the entire tour was fantastic to learning about Mount Etna and its volcanic history to the amazing late lunch we had at the winery that he took us too. Overall, an excellent tour and highly recommend it especially if you are traveling with friends.

Alex was a great guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about Mt Etna. He was very helpful as we walked. The hike was not strenuous but one must not have any mobility issues. The Gambino winery was in a beautiful setting and gave a great amounts of food and wines. The experience was one of the highlights of our two week trip in Sicily.

The tour of Etna and the wine tasting afterwords was a perfect combination of hiking, education on Etna and volcanic effusions and eruptions, and a mid-afternoon apertivo. Alex was an informed, professional, and hilarious guide for our journey to and up Etna. He has a passion for volcanic activity and happily answered any question we asked. He knows about the history of Etna, the frequency and effects of eruptions, and global activity as well. The transport in an air conditioned van was very comfortable, and Alex had everything we needed for our safe, enjoyable excursion: the first activity was a brief descent into a small volcanic cave, and the second was a managable ascent to view the many craters and wildlife on the north side of the mountain. Alex kept us laughing and informed throughout, and in the mid-afternoon, we were able to sit and relax with the most delicious selection of regional wines from a family-owned winery. Paired with those wines was a generous sampling of bread, cheese, meat, gazpacho, which was followed by a small plate of spinach, potato and sausage. We are all amazed at how much received for the money we paid. A perfect day, a wonderful guide, spectacular views, and phots and memories I return to again and again!

This tour was thoroughly enjoyable and extremely informative. Our guide Alex made the experience memorable with his vast knowledge of Mount Etna and volcanos all over the world. His passion for the subject is contagious and I wouldn’t want any other guide for this type of tour because of his warm personality. He was also very attentive to our individual needs in the group and helped make sure I descended safely from the hiking portion as I wore the wrong sneakers. Advice to fellow travelers: wear sneakers with sufficient tread to prevent sliding on small rocks/gravel, bring a hat and light jacket, wear sunscreen, bring a bottle of water. The wine tasting was also fabulous in every way-wine, service and food. Overall this was the highlight of our stay in Taormina and we HIGHLY recommend you book this particular tour.
