Our guide Dyllan was very knowledgeable, the house has lovingly been restored by the trust. Parking was easy.
Honestly, the Robie House was our favorite experience in our 2-week Chicago/Spring Green/Niagara falls trip. We loved the house and every minute of the very thorough small group (about 12 people) tour. We could not find a bus stop nearby so we took a Lyft from our Chicago hotel. I had booked the tour online through Tripadvisor/Viatour; then you need to get in touch with the Frank Lloyd Trust to get the tickets. We brought sandwiches and ate them in the shaded entry courtyard before our tour; there aren't any restaurants close my.
The guide, John, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and able to answer every question. Getting an Uber back from there you will need to be patient
The house was very interesting, which is exactly as expected for FLW. Emma the guide was uninformed as a docent. She lost her train of thought about the Robie house three or four times and offered to talk about the plumbing of her 1850s house in St. Louis…….it felt like a college kid doing a summer job. Worst experience of the 20+ FLW tours we have taken.
Beautiful home with a story richly resold by enthusiastic and knowledgeable docents who cared greatly about the home, its historical residences and our experien e that day. The Robie home is stunning and deserves preservation and protection for future generations of Mr. Wright's vision. Only disappointment maybe that we did not get to meet Mr. Wright nor Mr. Robie. Guide kept calling the home Mr. Robie's home or Mr. Wright's home, but neither of them were there that day or were maybe having g toast and tea in the kitchen because that room was not on the tour. Also, it was an early tour, and you are not allowed to go to the bedrooms.on the third floor. I understand, it was a Sunday and I would want to sleep in too. Mr. Wright must be getting pretty old and it didn't sound like he was a church going fella but I hear he likes to design them. Curious fella. Was hoping to meet him. Folks said his house is in oak park, so there's that.
Matthew was wonderful! My wife was so excited to see this home, architecture and classic homes are a hobby of hers so it was a thrill to see this home!
We did the in-depth house tour and it’s worth signing up for. Our tour guide was Dan H. and he was amazing! He is very friendly and knowledgeable and took his time to explain the house and its overall history to us along with checking in with us throughout the tour to answer any questions we had. I’d recommend taking the tour if you’re into history, architecture or Frank Lloyd Wright or all of the above.
I highly recommend this tour. Our guide Matthew was absolutely fantastic! He was very knowledgeable, kind, and considerate to everyone in the group. Thank you for opening my eyes to so many details I would never have noticed on my own.
Viator made the ticket purchase and redemption super easy and it saved me a little bit of money. Robie House, just WOW and the tour guide was amazing, people at store were great also!
Guia spoke absurdly, even weighing to speak slowly to strangers. He spoke too much and repeated the information several times. Unprepared
