The tour was super informative but moved along at a lovely pace. Allister was enthusiastic and hilarious. Lots of steep walking. We loved it.
Our tour guide was extremely well-versed. Although he shared that this was his first tour of Edinburgh Castle, he had been providing tours in Saint Andrews for several years. He was amazing. He casually shared history, personal information, as well as cultural references, so that everyone was able to appreciate and enjoy the tour, including all elements of the castle. I had arranged for our tour to align with the 1 o’clock Cannon and the tour guide had perfect timing so that we were able to observe and appreciate the canon being shot.
Alistair was amazing. I was with my teenage daughter and we didn’t see the time pass by. We learnt a lot and also laughed a lot. He talked about history, quirky anecdotes and Scotland today. I would strongly recommend him to anyone coming to Edinburgh!
Alisdair is wonderful! And independent guide, not part of a larger organization allowed him to customize the information provided in a way that was definitely more interesting to me and my party than the standard fare. We had some skeptics in our group and a wide range of ages and interests, we were all upset pleased with our experiences. I also appreciate it was cheaper than several other options.
Our guide was Ben. He was well informed and had lots of information to share in an interesting way. The group was small, just 7, but he included everybody as well as my grandson who was 13, a lone visitor, and several Americans. Non-one in the group had booked our visit knowing that it was the Fringe and also the Tattoo. Most of us were new to Edinburgh and he made the information exciting and spoke with passion about the place. It was memorable. The castle was crowded but we were kept together and an hour and a half was just about right.
We really enjoyed the tour and especially our guide. We loved the stories he told us and the Scottish humor.
