The highlights of Aix en Provence and Cassis ...it was terrific. Our guide Laurent was very good, spoke great English, and gave us really good insight into the culture of the area and life there. If I return, I will definitely visit Cassis again - loved it there!
Bonjour Sandra, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! we're absolutely thrilled to hear that our guide Laurent made a such fantastic impression on you. This tour does not provide what is listed on the Viator site! The tour company or Viator have not updated their information and we did not receive what we paid for. The guide was 30mins late as she was given the wrong Port to collect the tour. We then went to AixProvence first for only 1.5 hours (not 3 as listed) then only after our tour said we weren’t happy we stayed in Cassis for 2. 5 hours. The guide mentioned the tour is always this way around for the optional boat trip is Cassis. It is also usually only 2 hours in each location. Our tour was also not extended the extra 1/2 hour lost so it was cut short. I would not have booked this tour if I had of known it was such a shorter timeframe. I contacted Viator for a part refund as other travel Apps had this tour updated to reflect the shorter times. Viator refused to refund and nothing has changed on the site for the incorrect details. Very disappointed as this site should honour what they promote if it is proven to not be valid or incorrect. I suggest you check with any tour operator separately to confirm your listed trip details as this site cannot obviously guarantee you will get what you booked and paid for. Extremely disappointed, as the tour company appeared to be just as confused as the group that we had incorrect information.
Our tour was described as 2 hours of independent exploration in Cassis followed by 3 hours of the same in Aix-en-Provence. Our driver went to the wrong part of the port initially and was 30 minutes late in picking us up. We were driven to Aix first and given only 80 minutes to explore the town. This was a great disappointment. The driver wanted to get us to Cassis for an hour long boat ride (extra charge). None of the 8 persons in the van were interested in the boat ride, but we were not permitted to extend our time in Aix-en-Provence. The driver's itinerary was different from that advertised on viator, allowing only 2 hours in Aix-en-Provence. The driver was 30 minutes late in meeting us at our ship and refused to extend the tour by 30 minutes. The tour was misrepresented on viator and then shortened by the driver's incompetence.
Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the late pickup and the confusion regarding the itinerary order. Viator's listing description had not been updated by them to reflect this. For cruise passengers, tour timing does need to flex based on ship schedules, port constraints, and real-time conditions — which can affect how time is distributed between stops. That said, we understand this wasn't properly communicated, and we're sorry the experience fell short of expectations. Best regards Daniel-aubin
It started with the guide being late, she was sent to the wrong cruise terminal, not clear if that was the fault of the company dispatcher or the port people giving her wrong information. The write-up we went from said 2 hours in the first town and 3 in the second, but the order of the towns ended up being reversed. The guide said the order had always been that way. It seems the write-up in the US and Australia was wrong. Other people who booked through a different agency had the correct description .
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We apologize for this experience. Regarding the town order, the itinerary for cruise groups is sometimes adjusted based on ship timing and port logistics, which may differ from the general description. We regret this wasn't made clear upfront. We've flagged the listing discrepancy to Viator so they can update the description for US and Australian markets. Best regards Team A la Française
Remy was a great tour guide. We loved cassis and the views from it. The market was open so that was nice.
Bonjour, We are happy that you enjoyed your trip in Provence with our guide Remy. Thank you for choosing A la Française for your visit and we hope to see you again soon... Team A la Française!
The tour is fine, vehicle comfortable, guide was good but totally ruined for us English speakers by a group of French/English speakers from our ship who insisted on French commentary. The ship only has English language so they understand quite well. We had paid for an English speaking tour and got 70% French. Not pleased. The guides driving was excellent.
Thank you for your honest feedback. We sincerely apologize that the commentary was predominantly in French due to French speaking Canadian despite you booking an English-language tour. This falls short of our standards, and we understand how frustrating this must have been. We will address this directly with our guide to ensure language agreements are strictly honored going forward. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with experience you derserved. Warm regards, Team A La Française.
Great trip, Sebastian was knowledgeable and helpful. Ax Provence was beautiful. As was the beach town of Cassis

A wonderful day visiting 2 nice places. Audrey did a great job showing us the cities. She drove the car expertly. Our only wish was that the car was a bit bigger for comfort.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed this excursion. Audrey always strives to make each visit enjoyable and flexible according to everyone's wishes. We hope to see you again soon for a new discovery in Provence! best regards, A LA FRANCAISE!
This small group tour (eight people) gave us a chance to see two very different municipalities. In Aix en Provence, we were given the option of a guided tour by Audrey, our very amiable tour guide, or striking off on our own to explore the area. I chose the latter, although others on the tour said they enjoyed Audrey’s tour. From there, we were off to the small fishing village of Cassis, where we had a couple of hours to roam the town, have lunch or take a boat tour. (My lunch was one of the highlights of my entire cruise.). I consider this tour to be much preferable to a ship excursion, which usually is more expensive and has a much larger group.
Thank you so much for your detailed review! We're so glad you enjoyed this small-group tour and the discovery of two such different places: the charming Aix-en-Provence and the picturesque village of Cassis. Audrey always strives to make each tour enjoyable and flexible according to everyone's wishes. We're glad you had a great time, especially during your lunch in Cassis! Thank you again for your recommendation and for choosing our tour over a cruise—we hope to see you again soon for another discovery in Provence! Best regards, A LA FRANCAISE!
