La meilleure façon d'avoir un aperçu de l'implication américaine le jour J est dans un petit groupe de 8 personnes maximum, avec de nombreux détails donnés par nos guides expérimentés. Vous aurez la chance de découvrir tous les aspects du sacrifice consenti par les soldats américains le 6 juin 1944. Nous couvrirons l'opération maritime américaine en visitant les deux plages où débarquèrent les soldats américains, Omaha Beach et Utah Beach, ainsi que le point fort allemand de la Pointe du Hoc, assailli par les US Army Rangers. Nous visiterons également les sites de l'opération aéroportée américaine, dont son site le plus emblématique, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, où se déroula une terrible bataille dans la nuit du 5 juin 1944. Enfin, nous aurons la chance de rendre hommage à les milliers d'hommes qui ont donné leur vie pour libérer l'Europe en visitant le cimetière américain de Normandie.

Itinéraire
Tout d'abord, nous aurons 30 minutes de route de Bayeux à Omaha Beach. Vous commencerez la journée où les 1ère et 29ème divisions d'infanterie américaines ont débarqué. Nos guides, à l'aide de cartes et de photos, vous expliqueront tous les détails de « Bloody Omaha ». De l'aménagement des défenses allemandes au calvaire des premières vagues, nous partagerons avec vous les histoires de ces braves Gi's qui ont conquis la plage.
Votre guide vous montrera le cimetière américain derrière la plage d'Omaha. le lieu de repos de plus de 9 000 militaires américains. Ce lieu sacré, géré par l'American Battle Monuments Commission, est le site du débarquement le plus visité de Normandie.
Vous découvrirez le site unique de la Pointe du Hoc. Suivez les traces du 2e bataillon de Rangers américains dirigé par le célèbre lieutenant-colonel James E. Rudder qui a escaladé les falaises pour détruire une batterie de canons allemands menaçant toute l'opération de débarquement américain. Cratères de bombes, bunkers, pirogues, venez voir ce champ de bataille exceptionnel. Après avoir visité la Pointe du Hoc, nous roulerons 30 minutes jusqu'à Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
Au coeur de l'opération aéroportée, vous visiterez la petite ville de Sainte-Mère-Eglise. C'était la première ville à être capturée par les parachutistes américains. L'un d'eux s'est retrouvé coincé dans le clocher de l'église cette nuit-là. Votre guide partagera avec vous les détails de cette opération cruciale et de nombreuses histoires de ces hommes courageux. Nous quitterons ensuite Sainte-Mère-Eglise et roulerons 20 minutes jusqu'à Utah Beach.
À Utah Beach, votre guide vous expliquera comment la 4e division d'infanterie a réussi à percer les défenses allemandes. La première vague a été dirigée par le général de brigade Theodore Roosevelt Jr qui a atterri sur cette plage à 6h30. Il a finalement reçu la médaille d'honneur. Nous roulerons ensuite 15 minutes jusqu'à notre prochain arrêt, Angoville-au-Plain.
Votre guide vous conduira à l'église d'Angoville-au-Plain. Ce site servait de poste de secours. Deux jeunes médecins ont soigné environ 80 soldats blessés pendant deux jours. Découvrez leur exploit héroïque, une histoire émouvante sur l'humanité et le dévouement sur le champ de bataille. Après cette visite, nous aurons 35 minutes de route pour revenir à Bayeux.

This tour was excellent. Our guide, Paul, was extremely knowledgeable about the history and everything remotely related to the area. We asked lots of questions. Once or twice he said he didn’t know, so he was not claiming to know things he didn’t. He was also very personable, and everyone in the van became friendly with each other by the middle of the day. He made references to Band of Brothers many times, which we appreciated because all of us had seen it. As we drove from place to place he had a running narrative timed perfectly to fit the drive. It was hard to imagine the horror of what happened at Omaha Beach on D-Day because when we were there May 24 people were jogging or swimming and it was a beautiful day. Excellent tour, I highly recommend it.
Our full day tour if Omaha and Utah beaches was excellent in every way. Our guide Paul was highly knowledgeable, had an clear, friendly communication style and was very attentive to every guest
I really enjoyed the trip. I can highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in World War II or history in general. There was a wealth of information and interesting stories. However, the food situation was not the best thou the tour.
We had a wonderful day learning about D Day and seeing the American beaches with our guide Paul. He was very knowledgeable and personable, encouraged thoughtful discussions and ensured our family had an incredible experience. After learning that we have family ties to Bedford, he tailored the experience to discuss the Bedford Boys and answer any specific questions on that subject. The two of us had a private 4 day tour organized by Sarah Kirksey, World War II Museum in New Orlean LA, who created for us an amazing itinerary. We feel extremely fortunate to have had Yannick as our host. He exceeded all expectations! We saw unique sites that we would have never had trying to tour on our own. Yannick is unbelievably knowledgeable on Normandy and history. He explained thoroughly where we had a visual which was at times very emotional. Our group of 6 spent a bucket list day with Sophie touring DDay beaches, the American cemetery and Normandy villages. Sophie is second to none as a guide! She is fun, smart, and able to bring such important history to life. HQ Company Tours is fortunate to have Sophie on their team and anyone touring Normandy with her will be thrilled!
Our guide, Corrine, was friendly and courteous, but was more of a shuttle service than an actual guide. She provided some basic information, but it lacked depth and we paused often to listen to other group's guides who had more historical information. She had a jovial sense of humor, and continually made light of somber historical events, which was jarring and uncomfortable.
