Lucia was the best tour guide! Very knowledgeable, helpful and obviously experienced in the specialty of wine making and the family history of the castle. The chef, Jerry, was such a wonderful teacher who helped us make pasta, chicken and a wonderful sponge cake. We got recipes to take home. Would recommend highly to anyone!!
NOT RECOMMENDED. Tasting or proof of survival? Serving a wine with a screw cap among mid-level 'excellences' is already a long shot, but doing so while saving even on glasses is pure avant-garde. Pouring an important red into a dirty glass of white is not 'optimization', it is a crime against oenology. Good staff, too bad the organization managed to climb the ranking of my worst experiences of the last decade. Shall we bring the glasses from home next time?"
Had the most incredible experience at Castello del Trebbio. The venue is like something out of a dream and Lucia and Jerry made us feel so welcomed. Lucia shared some excellent history about the castle and the area as well as about the wine produced there. Jerry was an excellent teacher and taught us simple yet delicious dishes we can’t wait to make again once at home. It is evident that the staff and owners and passionate about what they do and have gone to great lengths to preserve the beauty and history that make Trebbio such a special place. The food, wine, views and service are all top tier. This was by far my favorite part of our week in Florence and I would highly recommend to anyone to book this. I hope we can return again next time we are in Tuscany! Thank you Lucia, Jerry and the owners for sharing Castello del Trebbio with us.
We had a lot of fun doing the pasta making a wine tasting. We were 2 families (friends - adults & 18 year old children) on Spring Break & decided to do this as an excursion. Our hostess/guide was a wonderful young lady who did our tour & served us after the class. She was very personable & friendly. Chef “Jerry” was a blast. Lots of fun with him teaching us how to make pasta. The castle & grounds are beautiful. The wines were very good. This was a terrific experience!
This was such a great experience for our family!! Jerry was extremely knowledgeable and funny - a great teacher. The castle itself was beautiful and the grounds were breathtaking! Very interesting to learn about their wine and their process! Highly recommend!!!
What an experience! Our group consisted of the father, the mother of the son and his new wife from Canada. A nice young couple from Virginia joined us! We were seduced by the visit of the castle and its history! We could see one of the few seals of the Pazzi family that was not destroyed by Lorenzo de Medici! For cooking classes and tasting, our guide and chef were welcoming, competent and the experience was amazing! We prepared homemade pasta with al ragu sauce, chicken backs in vinsanto sauce, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and a focaccia cake. For the tasting, we were served a platter of prosciutto , pecorino cheese, pesto, olive tapenade with bread and a sparkling white wine from the castle. For pasta, we had a light red wine. A full-bodied red was served with the chicken. Finally, dessert was accompanied by their famous vinsanto. What a treat! All in all, it was a rewarding day and we bring back memories of life.
Relaxation with visit to the beautiful cellars of the castle and guided tour. Cooking class and final tasting of dishes and wines produced by the company. Extraordinary place, enhanced even more by the fantastic staff!
Jerry (the chef) was awesome! Authentic and entertaining engaging all members of the group. This was a group of 10 we had 6 all adults ranging from 19-76 and the other 4 were 2 little girls (5&6 maybe) and their parents. He showed us how to make the pasta dough as well as a vegetable ragù. The meat ragù was prepared in advance as it takes several hours to simmer to get the proper consistency and taste. He is from Bologna so it was a Bolognese, but you don’t call it Bolognese if you’re not in Bologna, you call it Ragu. They then served us what we made and did a wine tasting. Everything was delicious!! Lisa was our guide and taught us about the history of the castle and vineyard. The wine was great. I ended up shipping a few bottle bottles home. That olive oil was amazing. This is a woman owned DOCG Vineyard. And restored castle. I was disappointed that there was not a tour of the inside of the castle, as it is lived in by the owner. But I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
This was so much fun. Our guide was great and taught us about the different kinds of wines. The master chef was a great cooking teacher to our small group and involved all of us in the preparation. It was a great time and would highly recommend booking it.
From start to finish we had the best time. An experience I can’t recommend enough.book in advance so you are sure to have availabilities.
