Au cours de cette promenade, vous visiterez le temple en compagnie de notre guide expérimenté. Nous marcherons également dans les zones environnantes, où vous pourrez voir Mylapore dans tout son chaos. Les bijoutiers, les marchands de soie, les vendeurs de fruits et légumes et les vendeurs de fleurs dans les bazars offrent une toile de fond colorée au temple. La promenade nous mène à travers de petites ruelles avec des maisons de style ancien, des boutiques de soie, des magasins vendant de la musique et des souvenirs religieux, des auditoriums «kutcheri», etc. Visitez le temple Kapaleeshwara, l'église Santhome et parcourez les ruelles de Mylapore au cours de cette visite de 3 heures. La visite se déroule principalement à pied avec un court trajet en auto-pousse-pousse (tuk-tuk local) qui sont organisés et inclus dans la visite et se terminera par des rafraîchissements du sud de l'Inde.

Mylapore est - et a toujours été en quelque sorte - l'épicentre religieux et culturel du peuple tamoul. Le village de Mylapore est antérieur à Chennai. Un grand temple de la côte dédié à Shiva se trouvait autrefois dans cet ancien port de mer en plein essor, jusqu'à l'arrivée des Portugais au milieu du XVIe siècle. Ils ont détruit le temple, créé une colonie portugaise sur le rivage et poussé Mylapore vers la côte, où il se trouve encore aujourd'hui. Le temple de Shiva a été reconstruit il y a 300 ans et s'appelle le temple Kapaleeswara. C'est un bel exemple du pur style dravidien, avec les gopurams et les mandapams, et de l'épicentre autour duquel est construite la région de Mylapore.
