Great bus, amazing driver , very good and caring guides
The tour guides, travel van, food, instruction on the mountain, and communication were flawless. I cannot recommend this group enough! Leaving at 3:00 AM was worth it to beat the crowds too!
What can I say—this tour team was truly flawless. From communication to pickup, every part of the experience was smooth and perfectly coordinated. Our guide, Darwin, was exceptionally attentive and incredibly informative. There are people you meet who simply do their job, but Darwin was fully invested in making sure every person in the group had a fun, safe, and memorable experience. It was a cold and icy day, and my friend and I faced a few challenges along the way, but Darwin made sure we felt supported, seen, and heard throughout the journey. Reaching the top was an emotional moment, and the breathtaking view made every step worth it. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
We left Cusco at 3 am and it was worth it, because when we arrived at the mountain there were very few tourists and we could take photos and enjoy the space. We came down at 11 am and the mountain looked full of people. I recommend entering the red valley; it is spectacular.
The place is undoubtedly special; the town feels like a theme park with hundreds of similar souvenir stalls..... the prices of food and drink are beyond reason.... Expensive or very expensive... it is better not to discuss the infrastructure issues for reaching the village due to the unfortunate image it projects of a country populated by simple and humble people who do not deserve such a poor classification. Nevertheless, the citadel is a marvel not only for its architecture but also because its location gives it an air of mystery and admiration for the choice of such a magnificent place..... it is important to have a good guide. In our case, Franklin did a good job.... There were moments when I truly believed what he was telling us.... The story of the Inca is absolutely "romanticized" into an idyllic world where events unfolded with the nature of an empire managed honestly and.... So and so..... until the bad ones arrived and everything ended in two sighs. That said..... the experience was very pleasant. I would recommend the visit to anyone with a certain historical curiosity and a love for vast natural spaces.....
A fantastic experience. Super worth seeing.
Justi and yuri were excellent hosts on a great day trip from Cusco.
Fun and full tour, they make sure you are there for the other tourists making it feel calmer on the rainbow mountain, red valley is also recommended. Augustin was a cheerful, enthusiastic guide who kept a close eye on us.
This was the worst guided tour I have ever experienced. Our guide, Darwin, spent the entire day rushing. The only thing we constantly heard was "Let's go, let's go." We put a lot of effort into hiking to Rainbow Mountain, but once we reached the viewpoint, there was barely any time to enjoy and take photos it before being hurried along again. What makes this even more frustrating is that our group actually spent more time waiting at the restaurant later than at the main attraction. We were the first bus to arrive for lunch and had to wait because the restaurant was not ready. Another group arrived about an hour later, which means they were able to spend roughly an extra hour at Rainbow Mountain while we sat in the restaurant doing nothing. In total, our group spent around 1.5 hours on lunch, mostly sitting on our phones out of boredom. The tour felt more like transportation to the mountain than a guided experience. Darwin did not take care of the group, did not check on our condition even once. At 5,000 meters above sea level, this is especially concerning. There was very little guiding throughout the day. Apart from a brief explanation after the trek, we received almost no information about Rainbow Mountain itself, its geology, or why it has its famous colors. The only information was how to tell a llama from an alpaca and popularity of Mountain, few pictures from the book. The schedule described in the tour information did not match reality. Despite having enough time, Darwin seemed surprised that some of us wanted to visit Red Valley. Once there, we were rushed again and spent only a few minutes enjoying the view. Communication was also poor. During the descent, Darwin spent much of the time chatting with a friend (all the way dawn) instead of paying attention to the group. No informaton about oxygen or blanket. On the trek, including Red Valley, you are essentially on your own. I cannot recommend this guide or this experience!
Hi Robert, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations. Rainbow Mountain is a high-altitude destination where weather conditions, trail congestion, and the different physical conditions of participants can sometimes affect the pace and dynamics of the tour. On the day of your visit, the guide had to balance the needs and safety of all members of the group, including travelers who experienced altitude-related difficulties during the hike. We understand your disappointment regarding the amount of guiding provided during the trek and the time spent at the viewpoints. Our intention is always to offer clear information, adequate guidance, and enough time for guests to enjoy both Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley while maintaining the schedule and safety of the entire group. We also regret that the restaurant experience and overall organization did not meet your expectations. Feedback such as yours is reviewed internally with our operations and guiding teams to help us improve the experience we provide. While many travelers successfully complete the route at different paces, we understand that your experience felt rushed and less guided than anticipated, and we appreciate you sharing these concerns. Thank you again for your comments. Warm regards, Rainbow Mountain Travels
