I work in the tourism industry myself, so I naturally have very high expectations when it comes to tours and customer experience — which is exactly why I was so impressed by Summer Travel Costa Rica. I recently had the opportunity to do several tours with them, and every single experience exceeded my expectations. What truly stands out about this company is how well organized everything is from start to finish. Communication before the tours was always clear, detailed, and professional, which made planning completely stress-free. During the tours, the logistics were seamless — pickups were on time, schedules were perfectly coordinated, and every detail felt carefully managed. The tour guides were fantastic: knowledgeable, friendly, passionate about Costa Rica, and genuinely committed to making each experience special. The drivers were also excellent and made every journey feel safe. Their mini buses were clean and very comfortable, especially for longer day trips. What I appreciated most was that every tour felt unique and thoughtfully designed rather than rushed or overly touristy. You can really tell that this company cares about quality, customer experience, and showcasing the best of Costa Rica in an authentic way. After multiple tours with them, I can confidently say that Summer Travel Costa Rica is one of the most professional and reliable tour operators I’ve experienced. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Costa Rica and looking for memorable, well-organized, and enjoyable adventures.

A very nice trip in which we could appreciate and enjoy nature, our guides very nice and attentive only Jairo was rude, in the Radisson hotel all excellent, the only drawback was the cancellation of the tour to Manuel Antonio for traffic reasons in exchange for that tour we were offered a dinner which was a complete disappointment neither the place, nor the shirt, nor the attention. We let the agency know as the cost of the tour is much higher than dinner, we are waiting for the answer, Thiago let us know that from the beginning he has been very attentive answering our doubts and being on the lookout before and during our trip

Our Costa Rica trip was largely positive but had issues. While most guides were friendly and knowledgeable, one was famously unfriendly, though he was a good driver. Hotel service and staff were excellent, and transportation was consistently prompt and clean. Due to road construction, a Manuel Antonio day and Sunset tour were exchanged for a disappointing dinner and a show. The replacement lacked à la carte options, staff-served buffet plates, and required us to pay for bottled water, which we felt was not comparable in value to the original tours. We reached out to the company owner but haven’t received a direct response. Diago, our helpful contact, informed us his boss is reviewing our concerns. Overall, these unfortunate incidents were minor compared to the country’s beauty and the great experience provided by Explorer Tours, Memo, Luis, Isla Tortuga, Bay Island Cruises, Radisson Hotel, Summer Travel Costa Rica, and other personnel who made the 8-day trip magical.

We had a fabulous set of 5* tours with Abraham and Hayro. These guys work hard and long hours to give detailed, entertaining and informative tours over 7 days.

Dear Tripadvisor Team, Shame on you for marketing this trip as a “deluxe” trip! It is more than puzzling what was supposed to be “deluxe” about it all!!! Right in advance, the hotel is fine. Great room, comfortable beds. The individual activities themselves are almost all very good. Talk about the actual activities such as rafting, volcanoes, etc. Only the catamaran trip was carried out by probably the cheapest provider. That this catamaran is still seaworthy is a miracle. The tour started at 05:00 in the morning and ended at 22:00 in the evening! Group size 50 people from at least four different hotels. The whole trip is catastrophically planned. On the one hand, it is not a round trip as you might assume, if you look at the individual destinations on the map and also the description would suggest it. The attractions are served by the same hotel every day, so of course the same way back is imminent. You spend at least 6-9 hours on the buses for a few hours at the destinations. Traffic jams everywhere because of construction sites that certainly didn't start overnight and should be known. There is also no water on the go. Our guide was also very special. Always a pointed remark ready when you have asked a question in a non-perfect English. He did not politely ask if the question could be repeated, but said he understood nothing and what the question was at all. He felt he thought we were all idiots and treated us accordingly. But he said a lot about Costa Rica. He is also an excellent driver. In the end, we also got along a little better. The travel agency itself is not particularly customer-oriented. Our first tour was cancelled due to the traffic situation, which is commendable in itself. We were offered three alternatives. Under the last alternative they added the description of the cancelled tour so that when I flew over the message on my arrival day from Germany (over 20 hours), I stopped for the description of the third alternative tour and was dressed for a beach day. The guide asked immediately after the start if we had hiking boots with us. We said there must be a misunderstanding, he meant that I have to clarify with the agency, but we are going up into the mountains and making the planned program. He didn't think to turn around for a second so we could at least change shoes. When I confronted the agency about this, they said it was my fault. The tone has become harsh. To avoid further conflicts, I said that it was probably my mistake after all. Which is only partly true. It doesn’t make any sense to describe the cancelled tour directly below the newly offered one, to point out that it would have been a similar tour to the one we still have ahead of us and that we will still be on the beach at least once. Furthermore, we were asked about allergies and similar in advance. Unfortunately, I have some intolerances that are annoying, but are there. I have also communicated these. But it was also successfully ignored. On one of the tours I had only a bit of salad for lunch and that after a three-hour rafting tour and before a five-hour drive back to San José. I am seriously considering taking legal action against it and suing for compensation. I can only recommend everyone to plan a route for themselves, take a rental car and drive to the destinations themselves and stay there if necessary. Or looking for a provider that offers such a round trip. You will certainly save a lot of driving time and could therefore combine many of the activities, so that the 7-day trip is not necessary.

Be warned. There’s a lot of driving involved. You leave in the early morning and come back in the late afternoon. Sometimes even later. If you can handle that, it’s a great way to see CR. Hayro was my driver for the majority of my day trips. He’s the best. He definitely made my day trips more memorable. I would definitely recommend this package to anyone who doesn’t mind a lot of driving.

Had an excellent week making day trips every day with Summer Travel CR. Usually rent a car, but this time was happy the tour could be arranged on very short notice, as had a good time with the other participants (3-20 persons per day), did not need to worry about lost internet connection in the mountains nor mudslides/traffic jams and all guides were really fluent in English (4/4 uber drivers spoke only Spanish). Most of all though lerned so much more from the guides, especially felt lucky as two days had Hayro, who knows so much about animals, the rainforest and clearly enjoys telling about his country. I really enjoyed especially the Arenal hanging bridges, Manuel Antonio day, the La Paz Waterfall garden and the rafting day. The communication with the company was swift and my wishes regarding changes were well taken into consideration to give me a really great week.
