The tour was amazing and our guide and driver were both highly adept, engaging and friendly. We loved the tour!
We were only 6 in the group. The guide Freddy was super knowledgeable. We stopped at a local hot springs (Puye) not super crowded. The hotel mamayacchi location is great and the food buffet is ok. We saw many condors at the canyon and the others stops/viewpoints are interesting.
The hotel pickup was punctual. The guide gave a fascinating commentary, and the driver drove very safely. The tour was well-organized, and everything went according to plan. The lunches were tasty, and the views were stunning. We have wonderful photos of the condors.
I loved the experience of the Valle do Colca tour! Everything was very organized and punctual. The guide Lucia seemed to have a lot of knowledge and always very requesting and willing to help us in everything. The driver Elias also great in the direction. I loved the tour with the company Giardino.
We had a private tour for 5. Giardino picked us up from the airport at 10am and we immediately headed to the Canyon. Along the way we stopped at an awesome place for Coca yes. They made fruit infused versions that were the best we had on our entire Peru vacation. From there we drove through the National Preserve observing the Llamas. Alpacas and the Vicuña. We stopped a few times to observe the beautiful scenery including a stop at 16,000’. From there we descended into the Canyon. We stayed at the lovely Colca Canyon Lodge. I wish we had stayed more nights. The next day we made our way to condor viewing. Our guide did a great job of positioning us in a perfect more isolated position to see them. On the way back to Arequipa we had lunch in Chivay. Then we went to an area that was used to move the volcanic ash used to give Arequipa its unique look. Could not have been happier with our guide or driver.
I enjoyed this tour. All the staff at Giardino are very helpful and friendly. Information was shared during the tour about the places we visited. I also liked the food. It was buffet based but with lots of different things and also really healthy. Delicious! I slept at La Casa de Mamayacchi. A super cozy hotel with a beautiful view. In the town itself (Coporaque) is quite little to do but you can sit in the garden, cuddle with the two baby alpacas and enjoy the view of the mountains and volcano Sabancaya. The hotel staff is also very sweet and helpful. If you want a bit more excitement then you should stay in Chivay but you can catch up later and just enjoy the peace. As the only one of my group I did the tour for 3 days and 2 nights. The third day I spent a few hours with a woman from the village. I went to her house and we visited her animals and her country where I helped a little before I travelled to Puno. The transport is also well arranged and there are plenty of toilet stops.
Spectacular!! They were always on time, the tour vehicle was clean, spacious, great condition, the driver was excellent, our guide was amazing, knowledgeable and always exited to answer our questions. Overall a great experience highly recommended.
We had a really nice tour. Stephanie was a great guide. Lot of knowledge about the area. Mamayacchi hotel was such a cute hotel too. The only thing I would like to see different is more diverse food options. Lunch and diner were ate the same place on day 1 and all the meals were offered as buffets whereas there are so many cute little towns to stop at. But great experience and saw plenty of condors too!
Excellent trip, well organized. Really liked it. Only small issue was that the Tour company sent a whatsapp message asking to bring a lot of cash for the trip, but later found that cards are accepted in vast majority of places. The Colca Canyon entrance fee takes 15 soles extra for card, and there was one stop where card was not accepted. Everywhere else, cards accepted without extra fees. However, that was only a small issue. Overall, the entire tour was well organized, and the hotel allocated to us was excellent.
I highly recommend Giardino Tours. We had an amazing guide, who was informative, energetic, and someone who really enjoyed what he does. He made the whole trip from Arequipa to Colca Canyon a really pleasant experience, with many side excursions to make the trip memorable. You won’t regret working with them.
