La journée commence avec la prise en charge à l’hébergement vers 7h45 avec une halte au marché de Graça pour acheter les produits nécessaires à la préparation du déjeuner (poisson, légumes et fruits, vin et pain régional).
Arrêtez-vous à Vila Franca do Campo, où vous pourrez déguster une Queijada de Vila Franca, ces queijadas sont un ancien couvent sucré dont la recette a été créée par les religieuses du couvent de Santo André. Très appréciés, ils ont comme ingrédients principaux le lait, les œufs, le sucre, le beurre et la farine de blé.
En arrivant sur les rives de la romantique lagune de Furnas, il est temps que les chefs montrent leur talent pour préparer le déjeuner!
Après avoir terminé les tâches culinaires, commence une visite autour de la Lagoa, puis dans la paroisse de Furnas, où vous pourrez vous baigner dans des sources thermales, dans le Poona da Dona Beija.
Retour à la Lagoa das Furnas, dans la zone de la caldera, où vous assisterez à la découverte du déjeuner, qui sera servi dans la zone des collations à la marge de ce magnifique lagon.
Après le rituel du déjeuner, faites un bref arrêt au Pico do Ferra Mirador, où vous pourrez être ébloui avec une vue panoramique sur la vallée de Furnas.
Sur le chemin du retour, le long de la côte nord de l'île, vous vous arrêterez à la plantation de Gorreana et à la fabrique de thé, unique en Europe, pour déguster une tasse de 5 heures. Arrêtez-vous au point de vue de Santa Iria où vous pouvez avoir une vue exubérante sur les pentes verdoyantes qui vont vers la mer. Retour à l'hébergement.

I had the pleasure of being invited by the owner of the company for "The Chef for a Day" experience. Evaristo, the most hospitable, warm and gracious host, took me to the local market early in the morning. Later, he opened his home to me, showing me how to prepare a local fish stew. We made it together in his kitchen and then drove to the fumaroles in Furnas to put it in the ground to cook for a few hours. During the cooking time, he took me on a lovely hike through Grena Park and even drove me to a nearby fishing village to show me the views. We later feasted on his amazing fish cozido at a picnic table right by the lake. He even purchased some island cheeses, bread and incredible wine from Pico Island for me to enjoy. THE MOST UNUSAL AND WONDERFUL DAY IN GREAT COMPANY! I also did 2 hiking tours with them and they were fantastic. THIS COMPANY HAS MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!
My husband and I were able to enjoy this amazing experience together with our fantastic guide Andre. Andre took us through the whole process from buying the food, preparing it, burying it, and enjoying an absolutely delicious meal. Thanks for letting us experience this local tradition. This is a full day with hiking, bathing in hot springs, and sight seeing. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Miguel!
Spent a week with Andre a very knowledgeable and accommodating guide. Our day at Lake Furness with Andre and Evaristo was truly memorable. We went to the market and bought our fresh ingredients. Then off to a beautiful venue where we prepared the meal for cooking in the ground at the Thermal springs. We walked and toured the area which was breathtaking while our meal cooked. Our meal was served with all the trimmings at a very posh venue. Fun times with our group of 5 ladies and these two accommodating gentlemen. Unforgettable. Highly recommend.
The four of us scheduled this tour for a unique experience And it did not disappoint. We arrived at Ponta Delgada on a cruise ship We were assured that time to return to the ship would be closely monitored and it was. The day started with a trip to the market, then tour thru some of the islands treasures in a comfortable van. Now the fun part The fish and vegetables were cut up and we drove to place our pot in a hole in the geothermal area. We then continued our tour and enjoyed time at the lovely thermal pool. Back to the pot and then on to the unveiling of the stew at a relaxing beautiful lodge Oh, my the stew was marvelous No fishy taste at all. Just well blended fresh ingredients well cooked. We are finishing up a 15 day cruise and 5 days in Iceland. We are still talking excitedly about our day with Big Blue Adventures. We felt safe, cared for, and special during the tour All of our questions were answered and we learned so much about the island. 3 of our group had been to the Azores before. Two were experiencing their first trip The tour was perfectly suited for all five of us We cannot wait to visit again and book more adventures with this experienced family tour group that just wants you to see and feel what they do about their land.
