Le château de Cape Coast est l'un des plus grands châteaux encore debout au Ghana aujourd'hui, construit par les forces européennes. Sur une partie de la Gold Coast, connue par la suite sous le nom de Cape Coast, tout a commencé comme un pavillon de commerce portugais construit en 1555. La Compagnie suédoise d'Afrique a construit une forteresse permanente en bois en 1653 pour faciliter le commerce de l'or et du bois après la conquête de la côte du Cap par la Suède. Le bureau régional du Ghana Museums and Monuments Board s'y trouve, et c'est actuellement un musée historique avec une boutique de cadeaux vendant de l'art et de l'artisanat ghanéens.
Ainsi, Jorge da Mina (Saint-Georges de la Mine) était le nom donné au château d'Elmina par les Portugais en 1482 lorsqu'ils l'ont érigé à Elmina, au Ghana (anciennement la Gold Coast). Elmina et le château d'Elmina sont la plus ancienne structure européenne encore debout sous le Sahara car c'était le premier poste de traite jamais construit sur le golfe de Guinée. Elle a d'abord été fondée en tant que colonie commerciale, mais s'est finalement développée pour devenir l'un des sites les plus importants sur la voie de la traite des esclaves dans l'Atlantique. Une partie importante du film dramatique "Cobra Verde" de Werner Herzog de 1987 a été tournée au château d'Elmina, qui est maintenant un monument historique bien connu. Il sert de rappel brutal de l'histoire de la traite des esclaves et est une destination très recherchée pour les voyageurs afro-américains qui espèrent se connecter avec leur héritage.
Le site d'attraction le plus visité du Ghana, niché avec la forêt tropicale de Kakum, est l'étonnante passerelle suspendue à 40 m au-dessus du sol, qui offre une perspective fascinante et magnifique sur la forêt et la faune.

Wisdom was my tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and personable. Felt like I was on a tour with a good friend! The castle experience is a must for all African diaspora. The park at the end is beautiful and a great way to release heavy emotions from the castles. Overall, the day was memorable and I thank Wisdom for setting the tone for a great day.

This was a fantastic trip and Daniel was a great driver. This was our second attempt at going on this trip, we unfortunately got caught up in the floods on 29th June, so our trip was cancelled. Expedition-go tour rearranged without difficulty. There communication was great Our driver Daniel was friendly and warm and helped us with getting some local street food We enjoyed all 3 sites we visited. Bewear the drive is very long and the roads dreadful but that's part of the experience! Daniel did well to navigate the potholes and traffic😁

At the Cape Coast Castle, Rose was so warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. Her stories were very powerful and detailed. At the Elmina Castle, Nathaniel stories made us feel like we were actually there. His stories were so vivid. We were able to take the hike at the National Park, but was unable to cross the bridge due to the heavy rain, but overall the park was spectacular. All praises to our driver Emmanuel with Expedition Go-Tour Ltd. Very professional, pleasant, and impeccable driving skills. I enjoyed our conversations.

Great day trip. Very impactful stop offs at Cape Coast and Elmina Castles. The canopy walk at Kakum was also fantastic. The lunch option was also great. Would definitely recommend to anybody returning to Ghana with family or ancestral roots and visitors from across the world to see a true, and at times shocking, history of what has impacted us all. The tour guide at both castles were very knowledgable. The transportation was also very comfortable, with WiFi included. There is ample opportunity to stop along the route at restrooms, ATMs and snack stops. One thing to be aware of is the current major reconstruction project on the N1 freeway, which is a sizeable part of the journey. It causes a bumpy ride on the way to Cape Coast and traffic delays on return to Accra. It’s no fault of the tour operator (who are great), just poor planning on the part of the freeway contractor!

I had a wonderful experience on this tour! My pickup from my hotel went smoothly and the Expedition-Go Tours made sure to check-in during my trip to make sure all was well. My tour guide, Patrick, was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all of my questions about the sites and in general regarding Ghana, the culture, and the people. The Cape Castle and Elmina Castle tours were very informative and emotionally moving, and the Kakum National Park excursion was fun. I will say that crossing the bridge in the park was a little bit scary though but safe. Instead of returning to Accra the same day, I decided to spend the night and return to Accra the next day since it is a long drive each way. I would recommend this tour as an efficient and cost-effective way for anyone who wants see these key sights in Cape Coast to do so with a quality tour guide.

The trip to Cape Coast to see all the three locations: Cape Coast Castle, Elmina castle and Kakum National park was amazing. It was one experience that I had longed to have together with my wife since we started planning our trip to Ghana from Finland. The tour driver' experience in providing some very interesting history bits during the course of journey was well appreciated. All the three journey locations were nothing short of a rich history experience for my wife and I. The tour driver did his best to navigate as quickly and as safe as possible to and fro locations but of course, roads under construction and traffic add a considerable amount of time to our journey which is out of the hands of the tour. Though we arrived home the same day, we did arrive later than expected so it is good to know that external factors can easily add another 1hr or more to the journey but our wonderful tour driver (and also guide during travel time), Mr. Patrick, navigated the roads and chose routes that were comfortable and best for the experience. All in all, I will say the tour company care about the whole experience and do everything in the ability to keep you informed before and after the journey through WhatsApp and calls. 5/5 for everything and thank you :)

Our guide Emanuel was very helpful, communicative, and kind throughout the entire trip. He really went above and beyond to make sure we had the best and safest experience possible. He was very knowledgeable and answered everyone's questions throughout the journey. Our driver, Mr. Set, was also incredible. The trip to the Castles and Kakum Park was very good. Everyone enjoyed themselves even though Cape Coast Castle was our second visit. Emanuel and the driver Mr Steep were very courteous and nice and helpful to us. It was a trip to remember!!! The canopy bridges were everything.
