Description

Brilliant experience

We’re so glad we booked this! We were looking for a calmer alternative to the boozy boat tours and wanted to learn some more about CDMX during the tour. Ramon was brilliant!! He picked us up as described and taught us so much about the history of Mexico City on our way to Tláhuac. Ramon bought us snacks and took us to the traditional boats. We floated along the canal and got to tour a floating farm whilst Ramon gave us so much interesting information about the canals, and the produce on the farms. Ramon was so helpful and dropped us closer to our next destination which was very kind, we also had the option to listen to the music of our choice - 10/10 would recommend!!

Informative, Engaging and Well-organized

I was looking for a quieter, less alcohol-fueled experience of the canals in Mexico City, and am so glad I found and chose this Aibuker tour. My guide was one of the company's founders, Ramón, taking a break from the office to give the tour. The pick-up location wasn't well-marked on a Saturday (the cafe was closed that early), which made me worry that I'd picked a ghost company, but GPS marked the spot correctly. Ramón found me and went ahead with the tour even though I was the only participant, which I appreciated as it was my last full day in Mexico City and I would have missed the canals otherwise. The tour involves hours of driving to and from Tláhuac, but the boat ride and lunch by the pier are so serene that the drive feels worth it. You get to see different parts of the city from the highway, including the southern cable car route, and then get to see a beautiful UNESCO heritage ecological reserve from the boat. Our gondolier was quite knowledgeable about the area, adding more detail to Ramón's already informative account. Getting quacked at by ducks who were insistent on sharing our snacks was one of several nice surprises along the tour. Would recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to Xochimilco.

Canals tour

The best part was our tour guide Aaron. He is very knowledgeable, felt safe. He had snacks for us and waters. He taught us about Mexico City history on the way to the canals. The only negative was that the Canal ride is very short besides that it was great.

Fascinating and refreshing. A delightful break from the city.

Our trip with Aaron was exceptional. He was so informative as we drove through the city and it was fun to mutually practice our Spanish/ English. Before we set off he was very attentive getting us delicious local snacks for the trip. The boat ride itself was serene and fascinating. So refreshing to be on the water in the middle of Mexico City and Aaron had so much knowledge about the area . It was delightful and we highly recommend!

The best guide for an authentic Mexican experience

We shared a lovely day with our exceptional guide Ramon. He promptly met with us at the designated spot and provided a comfortable ride to the canal. Since we are extremely curious about Mexico and its history, Ramon pointed out areas of interest on route as well as the history of each place. Once we reached our destination, Ramon met with our boat operator who along with Ramon, helped us onto this beautiful boat while informing us of its historical importance. As an historian, knowing that I am sharing the experience of an ancient Aztec tradition was extremely gratifying. The boat trip was relaxing, beautiful, and interesting punctuated by the excellent references provided by Ramon. We completed our adventure with a traditional Mexican meal which I asked Ramon for his assistance in selecting our food. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Ramon and highly recommend him to future travellers. If one wants to learn about Mexico and the many indigenous traditions, topography, and how ancient Mexican culture is still a part of daily life in this beautiful country, Ramon is the perfect choice for a guide. We would hire him again without hesitation.

Wonderful quiet tour!

We really enjoyed our tour. We wanted to see the canals, but not do the party boat ride. This was perfect. Our guide, Raymond, was very knowledgeable about the area's past. If you want to see the canals and learn the history, but skip the party boat scene, this is a great option.
