A great way to see Stonehenge. We took an overnight flight and wouldn't have been able to check in to our hotel, so went to Stonehenge. We got to sleep in the car, see Stonehenge, and then sleep on the way to the hotel.
Went to the iconic stone henge which is impressive. But the admission prices were pretty insane, over £50! So im not sure it's truly worth it for the price. The gift shop also had some terrible prices £5 for a fridge magnets terrible. Also so many tourists omg!
Ancient monolithic sites are always awe inspiring and this one does exactly that. The museum was a real value add. Maybe being British makes me lack objectivity but how they constructed such an amazing edifice so many thousands of years ago is amazing. Fun gift shop too. Only note is that the fact that it was designed based on the movements of the sun is slightly ironic given Britain is not exactly known for its sunshine. But yay optimism!
One of the best tourist experiences of my life. Being able to enjoy Stonehenge both from inside the circle and walking around the circumference without rush or stress (you enter a group of 26 and have about 15-20 minutes to move freely) is an incredible experience. All of this accompanied by the explanations of the guide (very proper). Although the price is high ($77) and you can only access it when the venue is closed to the public, in my opinion, it is worth it. The only downside is that at that time the café and the museum are closed, so if you want to access them, you will have to enter during regular visiting hours and wait. The store is still open.
Really interesting day out, especially if you have the weather. Great place to visit. Beautiful scenery
Spectacular! Unforgettable experience.
I'm old and at last made it here. Something I'd always wanted to. I'm glad I did. The stones are impressive, but a small part of a much larger period landscape. The entire area is something that should be made a bigger feature than it is. The visitors centre audio visuals try to do this but are only partially successful. Much more should be made of the work of Archeologist Mike Parker Pearson and his linking of wood henge and the stone version. We walked to the stones from the centre. Not recommended if you are a little unfit. Plenty of busses though. Facilities are ok. Cafe could be better (bigger and suited for larger crowds). The sheer amount of people there took the edge off for me, and at £30 a head plus parking I've had better value. Overall though I'm glad I went.
Very windy location! So wrap up. Lots of parking and the roads on the approach good signage. Lots of loos available, limited cafe ( most items sold out at our visit) very full gift shop. Organised coach to take you from arrival visiting centre to stones. Very well organised. Lots of support staff about to answer questions. Walk to or from stones about 25 mins back to visiting centre. Well worth a visit if you like History!
So much more impressive that I expected. And you can get so close. Great museum with film and explanations.
A great monument, must see for everyone. The museum is very well organized with beautiful artifacts displaying history of the site, but the area of Stonehenge is a marvel. There is a bus that drives you there or you can take a walk for about half an hour. Make use of the Instagram spots around the monument, it is a great tip
