Votre matinée commence par une visite au château de Wray pour ses paysages spectaculaires et sa vue sur le lac. C'est la maison de vacances où Beatrix est tombée amoureuse du Lake District. Il y aura beaucoup de temps pour les photos.
Pendant ses vacances, Beatrix a visité de nombreux petits villages de la région et Near Sawrey est devenue son préféré. Ce village figure dans plusieurs de ses illustrations de "petits livres". Le Tower Bank Arms est immédiatement reconnu comme le lieu où Kep, le chien chien de chasse, part à la recherche des deux chiots pour le renard afin de sauver Jemima Puddle-canard. Vous serez surpris quand vous le verrez, exactement comme dans le livre! L'une des raisons pour lesquelles Beatrix a si souvent visité Near Sawrey est que, tout en restant en vacances dans la région, le cocher du Potter et sa famille étaient hébergés dans une ferme. Cette ferme, Hill Top, est celle que Beatrix a achetée plus tard avec les bénéfices de l'édition de Peter Rabbit. Elle a souvent visité sa "maison de vacances" Hill Top et y a écrit de nombreux autres livres inspirés par les gens et les lieux qui l'entourent dans cette belle partie de l'Angleterre. Nous nous arrêterons à Near Sawrey et Hill Top pour vous permettre de voir les endroits si reconnaissables dans les livres et l'endroit où Béatrix Potter a vécu. L'entrée au sommet de la colline est incluse dans le prix de ce circuit. Votre guide vous fera faire une promenade guidée dans le village pour vous montrer des lieux réels illustrés dans les livres de Beatrix.
Près de Hill Top se trouve Esthwaite Water, où Beatrix a marché alors qu'elle courtisait son futur mari, William Heelis. C'était un lieu de prédilection pour Béatrix qui pensait que c'était "le plus beau des lacs".
Nous nous arrêtons maintenant à Hawkshead. Votre guide vous fera faire une promenade à pied dans ce village médiéval et vous indiquera tous les lieux importants.

A very good small tour experience. The guide was knowledgeable, and provided lots of information. Pointed out sights sometimes missed, and painted a well rounded picture of the life of Beatrix, and the key people who were an influence on her life. Tour was well paced, thoroughly enjoyable experience
"Bewitched by Beatrix" — we love that title. The things most visitors walk straight past are often the most interesting, and a well rounded picture of her life as well as the magic of her the books is exactly what Tim sets out to give. Really glad the morning felt so well paced and enjoyable.

Another great tour with English Lakes Tours after the Brontes. I thought Beatrix Potter just wrote children's books. I was wrong. I learned much more about her on the tour with our extremely knowledgable guide (and small group). She was a powerhouse when it wasn't common for women. She was brilliant: an activist, an environmentalist, a botanist, a philanthropist, a farmer, and much more, which you will learn about on the tour. We also drove thorough beautiful areas of the the Lake District. I highly recommend this tour.
Two days with us and two completely different stories — what a way to spend your time in the Lakes! "A powerhouse when it wasn't common for women" is such a perfect description of Beatrix Potter, and you discovered exactly what the tour is designed to reveal — the activist, the environmentalist, the botanist, the philanthropist, the farmer, all wrapped up in the woman most people only know from the children's books. We experienced an informative and educational tour that was entertaining as well. Our guide was very generous with sharing their knowledge and captivated our attention. We got to see more of the Lake District and to discover what makes this area so special and so important. The tour is good value for money. We felt that the duration of the tour was just right and got back in time for lunch. The tour group size is small, just a handful of us. The group is friendly and relaxed. You can be yourself and take your time. If you love to learn more about the history of this region you will live this tour.

Pretty comprehensive tour of Beatrix Potter area. Scheduled to gain entry to Hill Top house. Many illustrated buildings pointed out in the area. Our guide, Tim, was extremely knowledgeable about B. Potter, history, and the area. Never could have done this on my own, and would have missed a lot. Definitely book for a tour of Beatrix Potter territory.
