Votre après-midi commence par une visite au château de Wray pour des paysages spectaculaires et une vue sur le lac. C'est la maison de vacances où Beatrix est tombée amoureuse du Lake District.
Près de Hill Top se trouve Esthwaite Water, où Beatrix a marché alors qu'elle courtisait son futur mari, William Heelis. C'était un lieu de prédilection pour Béatrix qui pensait que c'était "le plus beau des lacs".
Pendant ses vacances, Beatrix a visité de nombreux petits villages de la région et Near Sawrey est devenue son préféré. Ce village figure dans plusieurs de ses illustrations de "petits livres". Le Tower Bank Arms est immédiatement reconnu comme le lieu où Kep, le chien chien de chasse, part à la recherche des deux chiots pour le renard afin de sauver Jemima Puddle-canard. Vous serez surpris quand vous le verrez, exactement comme dans le livre! L'une des raisons pour lesquelles Beatrix a si souvent visité Near Sawrey est que, tout en restant en vacances dans la région, le cocher du Potter et sa famille étaient hébergés dans une ferme. Cette ferme, Hill Top, est celle que Beatrix a achetée plus tard avec les bénéfices de l'édition de Peter Rabbit. Elle a souvent visité sa "maison de vacances" Hill Top et y a écrit de nombreux autres livres inspirés par les gens et les lieux qui l'entourent dans cette belle partie de l'Angleterre. Nous nous arrêterons à Near Sawrey et Hill Top pour vous permettre de voir les endroits si reconnaissables dans les livres et l'endroit où Béatrix Potter a vécu. L'entrée au sommet de la colline est incluse dans le prix de ce circuit. Notre guide vous emmènera dans une courte promenade dans le village, en vous indiquant les différents endroits que Beatrix a utilisés dans ses livres.

this was this was an amazing tour… Tim was very knowledgeable and passionate about the story of Beatrix Potter. Not only did we learn about her house st Hill top, but her marital house that she bought across the street, as well as visited her parents vacation home they rented, which is really Palace. Beatrix Potter is an inspiration, an amazing woman of her time, challenging societal norms for women . She was an incredible visionary that protected this beautiful point town from development -Well worth it!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Beatrix Potter tour through the beautiful Lake District. Although the afternoon brought occasional rain and sprinkles, we were fortunate that most of our stops took place during the dry intervals, allowing us to fully appreciate the stunning scenery. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared fascinating stories about Beatrix Potter’s life, her inspiration, and her lasting legacy. The rolling green countryside, lined with traditional stone walls and fences, was every bit as picturesque as we had hoped. The highlight of the tour was visiting Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House. Like the charming homes in her stories, it was surprisingly small but filled with an impressive collection of her original artwork, personal belongings, and beautiful porcelain pieces. We also enjoyed strolling through the lovely gardens, where a variety of flowers were still in bloom in early August. The tour concluded with a relaxing cruise on Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, providing a perfect ending to a memorable day. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys Beatrix Potter, English history, or the spectacular beauty of the Lake District.

We were absolutely blown away by this experience! It totally exceeded our expectations and the group was small and intimate. Tim was our tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable not only about Beatrix Potter but the history of Lake District. We had a few stops on our way up to Hill Top and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and catching the ferry back was a nice addition at the end also. Highly recommend this experience even if you’re not a crazy Beatrix Potter fan!

Tim is an outstanding tour guide, highly knowledgeable and funny as well! Our tour ended up being just our family of four which made the experience feel like a truly private experience which was very memorable! The vehicle was small enough that we were able to go places most tours can't reach, and to places we never would have thought to drive ourselves. Highly recommended!

A fab, interesting afternoon with our very friendly informative guide Tim. We travelled as a small group in great comfort and seeing and hearing everything was excellent, no crowds! Hill Top farm was a highlight and Tim showing us the exact places in the books' illustrations made the tour come alive. The boat rounded it all off in style. Thanks Tim for a wonderful afternoon.

Tim, the tour guide, knowledge was excellent. Tim provided a friendly environment where we could ask questions. The tour of the area and Beatrix homes are exceptional and to have the freedom to walk around Top House was fun, especially hunting for the ten mice! Highly recommend this adventure.

Beatrix hid things in that house the same way she hid them in her illustrations, and finding them takes the kind of unhurried time that a small group makes possible. We got to tick off three iconic things from our Lake District bucket list on this tour. 1. We visited Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Farm and saw where she actually lived and wrote some of her great children's books. We were taken through the village and Tim, our guide showed us exactly where she must have stood when she drew the illustrations. Very exciting! 2. We saw some spectacular scenery and the countryside which inspired her to write her books. I can understand now why this place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and she saved so much of this beautiful landscape for future generations by giving it to the National Trust! 3. We got to sail on a big boat on Lake Windermere which was a fun way to end the afternoon. This is an all round really good package with the price of entry to Hill Top and the Windermere Lake Cruise all bundled into the price. We booked well in advance to make sure that we got our seats because these are very, very popular tours and can sell out. My advice is to go with this tour because you get a bit of everything, its great value for money, the people are really friendly and the pickup point at Windermere station is a perfect location if you are arriving by train or staying in Windermere itself. Really, this is the best!
